    Getting that key loose......just spray with some Kroil...let sit....then do a lot of wiggling?

    I bought a CBX once with the same issue
    When the gas cap is open the key locks in place
    Once you close the gas cap … key releases

    The seller is the original owner, I'm pretty sure he knows how the key works after 35+ years.

    The original owner probably never had his cap off to clean and seal his tank before he parked it.

    Most people don't know you have to press the ring to release the key on a open cap. Comes up fairly often.

    Seems like a ton of miles for a 500 unless he babied it. No expert here but the valves seem to be a really weak link on these.

    Good question though, I wonder what is the highest mileage anyone has seen from these 400/500 engines?
