Picked up a used back wheel from eBay. $53 delivered. Plan on using it on my "middle" R26 Blue bike. Didn't need anything concours. Had a fair amount of grime on it so this morning I sprayed it down with a water based degreaser and brushed it down. Looks much better now. Really odd it looks like someone painted the inside of the rim white....

Hard to say, but Honda does use white primer on many of their wheels. Could have been a white wheel somebody painted too.

Actually, is there some paint on the disc mounts and the raised section to the dust seal? Honda does NOT do that.

    Thanks, Mike.

I think so. Supposedly came from an '86 RC24. I was trying to get a "silver" one like they used on the Blue RC26's.

I think it will do but need to do a comparison test to make sure. Just thought that white paint was odd looking.

Well the 86 wheels only came in white (in the US). And you didn't answer me, but I think I see some paint remnants on the disc mount landings? Not stock.

Capt.....took a closer look today and no paint specks on the wheel anywhere. Just what I posted on the inside where the tire fits. I took a look at the front wheel listed by the same eBay seller and it also had a white painted inside where the tire goes, so it must have been something a previous owner did.

Since I was in wheel painting mode, I prepped and sprayed a replacement F2 wheel for the improperly machined one that came with the tire.

    PXL_20250112_184751185[2].jpg

Came out pretty good. White is a little different shade than the rear wheel, but it won't really matter.

Don't need a modified wheel as this will be going on a 86 VFR with a front end swap already.

This wheel was actually already powder coated white, I don't normally paint down in the beads unless the wheel needed some work in that area. It had some staining and blemishes that could not be addressed locally to my satisfaction. I wet sanded the whole wheel and shot over the PC. No weird reactions and got really good adhesion. And any potential small rock dings will be white, so bonus.

Looks fantastic, Capt....only hope I can come somewhere close to that kind of perfection on my future painting endeavours!

I did not look back at your history, so I ask "Powder Coat?" I am addicted to process set up so looking at some options for systems and cure oven construction. I have built some radical cure systems in my working world days, for really little things and really really big things.

    Looks really good Capt.

If I was the person responsible for every part of the process, I would be more fond of PC. But after multiple times of being told the masking requirements have been clearly communicated, received and understood, to then not have it done even close (or at all) combined with a look on their dumb ass face that make you want to punch it...

At least it was expensive too.

I was done a long time ago and it's even more expensive now. And I'm not interested in setting up a powder coat "operation" at my house. I know there are good PC places out there, but with how many projects I always have going, I'll paint my stuff and save a bunch of money and grief.

My Buick came with Continentals. They don't impress me in the rain. Can't wait until I wear them down and get a set of either Michelins or Nokian All Weather .

Nokian were the best full winter snow tire I have ever driven on but they wear really fast on dry roads so I tried the All weather Nokians for my wife's Civic and am happy with them.

So far I'm real happy with these in the rain, great grip accelerating from stops and in corners. CrossContact LX25. Michelins are my other pick for tires, I have some on my STi.

I loved my Michelins on my two trucks but when I decided to get a new set of rims and permanently mount real snow tires, I tried the Nokians. I was totally impressed the first winter I had them. Then I wore the shot out of them pulling a fifth wheel half way across Canada and back in the very hot asphalt roads in the middle of the summer. The rear tires were worn almost illegal by the time winter came around again and I bought all weather Michelins and ran them year round.

The tires on my Buick just seem to float a little on wet roads. They hold and grip quite well on dry roads though. Matter of fact, the car handles a bit like a sports car.
