Judging by that question, you desperately need to get a Service Manual. Seriously.

At least to start reading about what is involved and required.

It is more than what can be relayed in a couple forum posts.

Look for a YouTube Video too perhaps.

You need to remove the fork cap, spacer, spring and then drain the oil. Flip the fork over and undo the hex nut that holds the damper rod in place, and slide that clear. Pick the circlip out of the top of the fork seal. Now slide the fork inner and outer apart forcefully to drive the old seal out, that will take a bit of work and bad language. You may need to apply heat to the area and/or penetrating oil to make this a little easier. fork2.jpg

Hey everyone, thanks for your replies — even if Captain 80s maybe didn’t need to jump in on this one.
I already have the manual, and I've disassembled and reassembled most of the bike — I’ve successfully done other forks before, but I’m running into trouble with this front one.

I took another look (especially since some replies made it feel like I was being treated like a beginner), and yeah — I originally thought the dust seal was metal because it wouldn’t budge when I tried to pull it out.
I gave it another go with a flathead screwdriver, and it popped out just fine. All good now!

Nice. Maybe if you would have provided some of the info in this post initially it would have been more apparent where you were in the job, your experience level and what the actual problem was.

Or maybe just don’t reply if it sounds too stupid to you, or if the subject isn’t clear enough and you have to make assumptions.

Everybody here had to make assumptions. And we all assumed the same thing.

Stay cool, have a kick ass Summer.
