In a previous thread a lot of you helped out with information on torque specs for the crank case cover on my VFR. Thanks.

When I wondered why all of the guys that posted videos on bike repair they didn't use anti-seize on the bolts. I searched the net and found this link to an article in Cycle World talks about wet and dry torque specs. I also recall someone saying when following torque specs from a given service manual to assume they are dry torque specs and unless otherwise specified you do not use a thread locker, anti-seize paste or oil because that changes the dynamics of the torque necessary to hold two parts together.

Additionally, if you feel compelled to use a thread locker, anti seize paste, etc. it is recommended to reduce the torque value by 25% then torque.

    What do you guys say?
