Ran over to my storage units to do a few things. Still warm and humid but cooler weather will be here soon!

Two bikes had low batteries so threw a charger on them. Nice to have electric in these storage units!

Man I got a lot of bikes!

    my first bike in 1988 that i acquired accidentaly, a 1966 yamaha YL-1 2-stroke. 100cc 2-cylinder, dual carbs and exhaust. auto-inject oil .

my landlord cleaned out a rented garage, didnt want the bike, and i got it free ! zero $. coming from a background of working on imported sportscars, i knew id be able to fix whatever it needed.

i rode this around town for a year before deciding motorcycling was gonna be my obsession, like the rest you freaks, so i bought a 600 yamaha radian and didnt ride the YL more than one day a year. next bike was classic '86 VFR, my first of 4 so far.

There's a European seller offered all of this (and more I didn't share in the photos here) for sale on the VF500F FB Group. I think they are located in Italy and want to sell it all as a bulk sale. Depending on price - what an opportunity!

Ahh Japan. I picked up my first automotive race helmet from HPT. Very interesting note, all ARAI helmets car and bike are round only. I bought a Bell, because the ARAI auto was never going to fit. No oval or long ovals. So basically go up a size and get thicker cheek pads or you with crush you forehead. 9C33EAF1-C66E-4A51-868D-BCBA88CF72EA.jpeg A41FF53F-D8CF-4CE5-BC76-DA91E1D64F1E.jpeg 824F7D16-661E-44A9-895D-83D646A929F1.jpeg FA8F4FD4-317F-4D46-9FAD-1EBED8C40984.jpeg

    Very cool @RogueRC24 !

Good friend of mine was the American judge on the ASP world tour back in the 80's and would send me postcards from various global travel locations with updates on the latest contest results. I have them all and will try and dig out the one I remember he sent from Japan.

@RogueRC24 - Also related to Japan - I took this recent photo of one my palms in my front yard that is native to Japan. It's called a Satakentia liukiuensis and this is the only species in the genus Satakentia. They are endemic to Ishigaki Island and Iriomote Island in the Yaeyama Islands, the south-westernmost of the Ryukyu Islands, Japan.

It's a "crown shaft" palm that sheds it own fronds as it ages. And no armament, which I like!

I planted mine about 3 years ago from a 3 gallon container and while it's still quite young it's doing really well. I just gave it a winter feeding with slow release dry fertilizer (13-3-13) w/minors.

The fact that it is native to Japan makes it very unique!

You can read more about it here:

That is a nice tree. We will have to find one for our yard. We are very dry, but have raised 4 queen palms from 2gal buckets to over 20ft in height. Photos at home. Lol

I like the No armor look!

I took pictures of someone taking pictures yesterday. I think we spent 25 minutes on the bridge (should have been 3) because every person walking by had a story about a Honda CB/CL/SL that they had growing up, hah. We had the CB and Kramer in the van so went around looking for a few picture opportunities.

    CB-FallPhotos_2025.jpg

Hopefully I can get out once more on the VF if the weather cooperates next weekend (it's friggen dark here at 4:30pm now.. gr....) before putting it up for the year. I'm in motorcycle disarray at the moment, so just putting together lists of what I need to do and then move everything else out so there's space to work. Got home from Daytona a few weeks ago and it's like a bomb went off. Shouldn't be much Interceptor work this winter (hopefully none). A lot of CB though.

    Thanks for posting, Matt.....love it!

Down here we have finally put the heat and humidity in the rear view mirror, so looking forward to more work on my bikes - lot to do!

Speaking of vintage CL Hondas......I picked up this CL350 earlier this year and haven't done anything with it yet.

Please continue to keep us posted on all of your activities! :)

I visited Japan in 2018 and bought a Shoei GT-Air 2 from Ricoland in Kyoto, a great shopping experience as they did a custom fit for my cheekpads and the pricing was pretty decent. But the fit was never perfect and on really long rides I developed a pressure point on my forehead which occasionally caused headaches. I replaced that one with another GT-Air bought locally and the fit on that one (even without any customisation) is 100% better, what you say about Japan=round vs export=oval is definitely a thing.
