When I visited Moorea back in 2003, I rented a moped and sat on my board as I rode around looking for a break where I could surf.

I don't have a selfie but here is my moped where I parked overlooking Cook's Bay.

I ended up paddling out by myself at the mouth of a bay - scary as hell - wondering about Tiger Sharks.

The locals were dipchits and actually stole my board and an Aussie's board too the night we were leaving. Long story but if you ever go there be careful not to leave anything unattended.

But I did enjoy myself other than that incident.....

It truly was a fantastic trip, thanks. I met a family in line at the LA terminal from Santa Barbara, who took a family vacation every Christmas. Just by luck we were both staying at the same resort on Moorea.

I'm a friendly sociable person in public so we struck up an immediate friendship. Their two children were adults not living at home any more - and I actually dated the daughter while on the island.

Every time one travels it's going to be a different experience. I get that. I've not gone on too many trips in my life but have enjoyed them all. Here I am back in '73 at Domes Puerto Rico - another Christmas vacation surf trip I went on with 2 other buddies. 19 years old.....my first time outside the USA.

You can see my surfboard laying down next to me. Gray bottom and yellow deck with black lightning bolt!

A couple "random photos" for you--not Honda this time, but hopefully you'll forgive me.

About four months ago, two of my buddies and I decided to take a lot of the bonfire track talk and try to turn it into reality. Started an LLC, and we've started a motorcycle team to compete in two MotoAmerica Twins Cup events this year (Daytona and Road America). It's been one hell of a learning experience so far to say the least. My buddy has effectively closed his business and turned it into a bike shop solely to get these four RS660s ready. From bike prep, to logistics, to setup, to reservations, to memorizing the rule book, to sourcing everything, to managing personalities, to trying to attract sponsorship... it's been a lot. We leave for Daytona in a few weeks.

The primary goal is to put 4 bikes on the grid. Secondary goal is to put as many bikes as possible on the scoring pylon (top 20), and I think we've got a shot at putting one a lot higher than that. We've been getting a ton of help from two individuals that have been at the top of MotoAmerica before--and one has dedicated himself to being part of the team this year.

I won't be racing, I'll be crew on the #444 bike. I thought really long about potentially getting on, but I'm not ready yet. I'm fairly confident I could make the grid, but it just didn't make sense in my life yet. And I want to learn how the circus works and have the experience first as crew to learn if it's something I want to make a goal for the future.

It's been a whirlwind of a few months. Next three weeks I'm sure are going to be even more insane. It's been many years since I built a website, but I built our current site. When I have more time, I'm hoping to sit down and polish all of it. You can see it here:

    https://teamshockerracing.com/

So if you need a rooting interest for Twins Cup March 5-7 this year, we'll be there with Team Shocker Racing with Maxim Gulinski, Charles Burton, Ethan Song, and Chris LaBuguen on an assortment of Aprilia RS660s. I didn't pick the team name.

The bikes were all painted by my girlfriend. Spent weeks repairing and prepping them and drove to one of my company's offices that has a paint booth about 4 hours away to get them all sprayed. That was a mountainous task in itself. But seeing them come together with all the decals on and knowing where they started... I'm getting pumped.

coldD!! Damn dude, well done. I will def be rooting for your team. If this is your teams first effort, it is looking pretty pro. Logistics is a way bigger task than the racing. The racing is minutes of fun vs days/weeks of labor for logistics.
Remember to take a breath and enjoy. :)
Lots of photos, even the goofy ones!

They're so smooth and quiet with a good synch.

    Just like the 70's Fours.

Thanks to the ever vigilant, Big Red finally has a solo seat cowl! Thanks Capt! Fits perfectly. Price was good considering a stock red from the UK is semi mission impossible.
