You can tell it's a Triumph by all the oil stains on the concrete! :D

BTW - that's Sonny and Cher!

My first motorcycle.......had the same weird handlebars......and the same grips.

Oddly enough......I had the same goofy grin on my face too! Guess I didn't know better, huh?

Did your first motorcycle also have magic levitating brake and clutch levers and front fender, fork tubes with the exact same finish as the fork lowers (natural wood?) and randomly sized and spaced knobbies on the front tire? Cool!

I never said anything about AI.

I was only speaking to the two comments about the handlebars and grips.

But since you brought it up - who cares about whether it's AI or not?

There's a very genuine and REAL point being made about *some* kids never experiencing the pure joy of flying around outside on something with wheels.

I know. I did. And I care. We don't need more of this slop in our lives. There's an abundance with much more to come.

Fairly sure the two comments were more about how they looked just plain wrong. Like how the grips are FAR larger than the bar diameters and appear to be hanging on the bars. With shoelaces wrapped around the inside?

There's plenty of pics of real kids, on real bikes, making real points. Like your last pic. I so remember doing that. Awesome. Although, pretty sure the Atari 2600 was out in that pic.

We survived Flat Out Friday at the Fiserve a few days ago.

Long ass day, and we didn't get the results we wanted, but we had fun. Entered 4 bikes with 3 riders. My girlfriend has officially taken part in her first ever sanctioned race, she's raced in front of a crowd 20x bigger than I ever have, and she had one of the only bikes there that seemingly didn't have issues starting.

Proud of her and my two buddies for going out there and giving it the ole college try. It was one buddy's first race day and the other's second. If you've ever lined up for a grid, you know how nerveracking the entire experience is leading up to the green flag. Doesn't matter what kind of race it is--if there are transponders and results grids on the line, it's unlike anything a track day or a racing simulator or similar could ever train you for. The only way to get comfortable with racing is racing. And the only way to do that is to take the damn plunge and go learn something about yourself.

I'm gutted for my 6'5" friend on the minibike. We spent so many weekends tinkering on that thing and thought we had it perfect. Every. Single. Outing. it kept stalling out in the turns and he had to pull off. He missed the main show by one position in the qualifying heat last year. This year it was just a wash. Nothing. DNF every outing. I just feel bad that I couldn't come up with the right shadetree fix to what we think was a fuel starvation issue that hadn't shown up in any of the last several weekends we've been testing in my neighborhood.

My buddy that rode the aprilia 2stroke scooter and Honda Monkey was one of the most entertaining racers of the night. I think he hit everything but the pace car, but he rode his ass off. Finished P2 in one of the qualifying heats, but only the top p1 qualified for the main. In the JV main he had a terrible start and just couldn't make up the spots. He found the horn button though which made me die of tears watching and cheering from the tunnel hearing him blast that thing.

For my girlfriend and her CB100--I did a lot of pushing the bike around the pits and whatnot, and the amount of comments I get on the bike is hilarious. She's put so much work into the bike, and it's absolutely a looker. We kept getting people coming up to us saying "I can't believe you're going to risk putting a bike that looks that good out on a race track." My go to response every time was "we don't get to take them with us when we die.".

I've never seen her so nervous than before the JV qualifying race. She knew she wasn't going for a winning result--but you still want to go out there and do your best. And you don't want to make a mess of things by getting spooked and dumping the bike when one of these lunatics comes by going half the speed of sound. And she did great. Finished P7 of 8 in her race. She's been buzzing ever since taking the helmet off.

Coolest thing was two of my buddies from the Team Shocker team (they'll be racing daytona in a few weeks) drove up from Illinois to support my girlfriend in her first race. They're both well aware of the nerves and effort involved in it. I didn't know they'd even be coming up until the night before when I scrambled to get them tickets. I thought that was a badass gesture of support.
