Hi VFR experts, I am looking at a 2014 8th gen VFR800 deluxe and I wanted to get some thoughts. ITtapparently did 26,000 miles between 2025 and 2026. Is this a matter of concern? This was all with the first owner, who apparently kept lots of service records. In mid-2026 it was sold to the current, second owner. The first owner also seemed a bit OCD as he installed a voltage monitor and tire pressure monitoring system. Altogether the bike has 58k miles and got V-tec last servicced in 2019. Sale price would be 4800 USD. Yay or nay?

Buy it, high mileage is what viffers are built for

I don't know values of that Gen, but the mileage is really largely irrelevant. The good thing about that kind of mileage in a short period, it was likely spent out on the open road with a good owner, not diddling about in city traffic putting more wear and tear on everything.

If it is otherwise nice, make an offer. I'd rather have a bike with some miles and a known history with an attentive owner than lower miles with a jack ass.

Thanks for the insight guys. The last dealer-service was in 2025 for fork seals with the first owner. From what I understand, the first owner had it new from 2014 to mid-2026. The second owner purchased it, but found it to not be his taste. The first owner was definetly a careful older man. He added a battery voltage monitor, remote tire pressure monitoring system. I do not yet know if there are mechanic service records for regular stuff like oil, chain, sprockets, etc; but I think the type of man who keeps a remote battery system will have kept on top of maintenance and done them himself.

The only servicing info that I would be interested in is the valve clearance check. It is an expensive job on a VTEC engine due to the time it takes to set up the VTEC buckets to allow the clearance to be checked, and then the cost of replacing any VTEC buckets if it is needed. I certainly wouldn't need a record to tell me about chain or sprockets as that is a quick visual check.
