vf 500 measure diameter of port after throttle plate to id which year or decode the factory id numbers. capt80s sure to know.

did u do any rejetting to dial-in the non-stock pipe ? seems like some minor carb adjustments might be needed to optimize for an aftermarket pipe...
push it through and remove it, replace with new. need that filter working or youll be doing alot of carb cleans.
the weight saving advantage is real, and the sound is alot better. scientists have proven stock mufflrs way 2 heavy in labratory tests. [ATTACH]

im pretty sure a vinegar soak would clean it up well.
