Little to no chance that there is no damage, remove the exhaust and carbs and take a look at the valves to find out .
The cams should be at a 10 and 2 position roughly on the hole that is at TDC. The lock on the tensioner tends to crack where the rod goes through...
Bite it off and dig into it, you only need to learn one engine, best to learn it now.

Not to thow a wrench in this , but how did you get the rear cams in without resetting the tensioner? You may want to inspect it to be sure it is...
A very fine write up! You must give it a time rating in beers.....I give it a 2-3 beer time table.

As described ,the failure would make me want to check compression first. If its ok then at least you know it is an easy fix and not to expensive...
That is way to hot. Replace the thermostat and check. I have been in bumper to bumper trafic in 100+temps for an hour and came close to 240 degrees.
