I recently bought a well-used VFR1200, and have been replacing all fluids and such to make sure it's in tip-top shape. I watched a few videos, read the shop manual, and didn't have a problem removing the fairings, but now I cannot for the life of me get the side fairings back on. It feels like there must be some trick that I'm missing, because I can't get the different bosses and catches back together. Every time I try to line things up, there are large gaps and obvious catches that haven't slid into the right spot. Does anyone out there have a tutorial video, a good set of pictures, or just simple advice on what I should be seeing/feeling to line up everything?
