'86 VF500F main jets

Need help from the experts. I am in the process of cleaning up a set of '86 VF500F carbs, 49 state model. The manual states that the main jets should be # 90, all 4 carbs. The carbs for cylinders 1 & 3 are fitted with #92s, the carbs for cylinders 2 & 4 are fitted with # 95s. I need some clarification here. Are these jets fitted because they provide a performance improvement? Or, has someone screwed up and fitted the wrong jets?

Not sure why FP has the '86 setup this way but they do.

Thanks for the info IC. I will assume that the jets will work OK and put them back in. BTW, the slow jets are the stock #35s. The carbs were pretty gummed, photo attached.

The stuff was kind of gooey, black with a little green mixed in, but cleaned up pretty well considering.....
