I'm thinking of buying a 86vfr but the bike has not been started in a couple yrs Will i have any problems with a engine sitting so long , and what should i do first b4 starting the engine? thxs on any feedback.
vfr standing The first thing to do is drain the fuel system ,carbs and tank Through the fuel feed pipe fill the carbs with carb cleaner leave to stand for 24 hours and drain again. Replace the fuel filter. Drain and refill the oil (use a cheap 10/40 motorcycle oil as you,ll be changing it again and the oil filter after the bike has covered approx 50 miles)Remove and charge the battery fill with fresh fuel and start the bike. If it doesn't start easily either the carbs are badly gummed up which will require strip and rebuild or the plugs are fouled. Good luck!
