Anyone have an extra rear master cylinder cup cap laying around? I know this is probably a long shot but I seem to have lost mine on the tour I did recently. I can't imagine how it could have worked loose and fallen off given it's location (at least on the 1998) but somehow it did. Maybe a milk jug lid will fit. ;) Bikebandit lists it as an oil cap in the rear brake master cyl schematic for $19.95 #141795-001 but that seems a tad steep for a plastic cap to me.
Hmm, may be time for duct tape...

Anything short of the gasketed cap is going to have your brakes feeling like crap when the fluid quickly takes on moisture.
$20 sounds like a bargain to me compared to the alternative of repeated bleeding and poor braking, especially on a linked system.

    Vlad is dead on.
Use a piece of heavy mil freezer bag and a tight rubber band for protection.
Have the cap overnighted. Good luck!
