Just a quick message to say thanks and goodbye to VFRWorld. In August my 8th Gen was written off thanks to my insurance company deciding it was cheaper to write it off than fix it. I was waiting in the queue for a toll station when the truck in front of me just reversed into my motorbike and crushed the whole front end. After months of seaching it is very clear that finding a similar spec RC97 VFR with full factory luggage is like hunting for a unicorn, so for now my Street Triple 765 will have to double up for local and long distance trips. Sadly production of 8th Gen models came to a permanent and totally unplanned halt after the KumaMoto factory was destroyed by 2 earthquakes in 2016 whllst the factory was churning out a batch of 8th Gen models for North America. The factory was completely flattened and all the model specific tooling and jigs for the VFR800F were destroyed. Whilst the factory was rebuilt it began churning out the "New fireblade" models which Honda had already planned would be the next batch through the factory. Sadly Honda could not justify the cost of remaking all the 8thGen tooling especially the fairing moulds, so without warning the amazing VFR history came to a rather sad halt. OK For months after the earthquakes VFR parts continued to arrive so Honda quickly made use of most of those parts to release a naked adventure style VFR800X - which sadly was way too tall for me. So with no prospect of Honda making further VFR models I guess it is time to say thanks and goodbye. SkiMad
The fact that you are writing this tells that the outcome could have been worse. I didn't know that sad chapter of the VFR story. I feel happy here in the relative small part of the globe where we go free of extreme weather conditions and any significant earth quakes.
NO.....you can't go! Who will take over the greeting responsibilities that you have been so faithful to for all of these years? Seriously, I hope you check in on occasion, SkiMad. And thanks for your service to this forum!
