I just finished doing the 16k valve adjustment on my 98, and now it's only idling at 750-1k rpm, and revs very slowly. Wide open in neutral slowly tachs up to about 5k, then stalls. I did the service according to the factory manuall, and the all but 2 intake valves on the rear were in spec. The front cams were never removed, and i rechecked the clearances after i put the cams back in, so I didmt go the wrong way with the shims.
Heres the other things I've tried since discovering the issue:
Let it warm up- no change
Checked all vac lines into the airbox- still attached
Ran with the gas cap open- no change
    Disconnected power commander- no change
Checked ignition coil wires- all going to the right cylinders
Ran with the top of the airbox off- no change
Adjusted idle speed screw- idle moved slightly, but not up to normal
Disconnected the battery to reset ecu- no change
Removed valve covers and checked cam timing per manual- all correct

The bike ran fine just before I did the service. It usually idled around 1250.

    So, any thoughts?

Well that shouldn't happen after a valve service! Are all of the cylinders firing (are the headers all evenly hot)? Maybe you've got no electrical power to one of the injectors? Any FI fault codes?

Might also pay to check you've got the MAP sensor hose plugged in; I did this once and the bike wasn't very happy, and told me so via the FI fault code.

How about the coils near the back head? All the wires on the right terminals?

All of the cylinders are firing. I dosconnected each coil individually, and the rpm and exhaust sound changed every time. All of the wires are going to the right coils, the MAP hose is hooked up, and there are no FI fault codes. I suppose its possible there's a misfiring injector, but I never messed with them, so I dont see why that would be happening.

I'm going to pull and reinstall the cams in the rear bank again. I used a torque wrench to put them back the first time, but its the only step I haven't redone yet, so I'm going to give it a shot.
