New brake/clutch lines

Hello all and Merry Christmas. After the Christmas holiday passes, I'm going to start refurbishing the brakes on my 86 700. I'm planning on using Spiegler S/S lines to replace the original lines. Trying to decide if I should install a 2-line system on the front with a double line banjo bolt on the master or go with the original design 3-line style with the T fitting and single line banjo bolt on the master. My 87 has a 2-line S/S system for the front lines that my brother installed a few years back. not sure which setup works better. Opinions?

 

Hi, I'm not sure if one is better than the other but I installed the black Galfer two line kit on my 86 VFR. I like it.

 

They will "work" the same. A properly bled 3-line system will function exactly the same as a 2-line.

Less parts, lower cost potential, routing, "originality" will be the driving factors. On some bikes, a double banjo at the master can create potential clearance issues (see VF1000R), but the VFR700/750F is not one of them.

 

That's true Capt., I've have had clearance issues with a double bango on other bikes. It worked out fine on the 86. I have a three line setup on my 00 VFR and don't notice any difference between it and a two line system. I'd go with the cheaper setup. Lol
