Hi all. I am also a new 86' 750 VFR owner, actually two VFR's, (parts bike)
Question is...the bike has a k&n filter, f1 pipes and a jet kit. But she just sucks the gas. I am wondering if I have to totally remove carbs to the move the clips on the main needle up a position or two. The back two carbs are a breeze to work on but looking at the front two...ouch. Am I missing a trick or a procedure to accesses these.
The bike flies but lots of carbon out the pipes, and really shortens my distance on a tank...maybe 225 km's. Any help would be great

If anything you would want to drop them down (leaner). Got a photo of what the plugs look like under normal riding. May be hard to tell exactly but may be able to get a general condition look see. Any idea what type of jet kit and sizes of jets and rods? Running way rich may wash the oil off of cylinder walls and create more wear in the long run. Depending how rich it is.

Harvey Lembeck ^^ is correct. You'll need to adjust jetting/needle height until black smoke stops and all plugs look the same, a nice tanish colour.

No way to easily gain access to front sliders, just pull carb set.

Thanks for the response...thats what I needed to know. I was afraid of that answer. Taking the carbs off just is a big pain every time to adjust the needle, sometimes to dial it in right requires many adjustments. And with this age a bike, I think I'm in for replacing the rubber boots and who know what else. I think I'll wait till November is upon us and riding season is all but over... Canada eh!...
This vfr group is fantastic, glad I found you...lots n lots of gear head stuff...mmm...mmm
