I am going to put 5 gen switch gear on my 86 and would like to know if anyone else has done this. The plugs are the same but wiring is a little different. I can figure it out but if someone else already has I would love the help.

I just put 954 right and F3 left switches on my '85 1000. Plugs were the same on the left but wiring was a little different configuration. I was able to pull the blades out of the plugs and resort them to retain the original plug, the left was pretty straightforward, turn signal wire colors were all the same and the others matched up pretty well. The right plug was different so I ended up cutting and splicing. Best thing is to get the wiring diagrams and just map the different colored wires together.
