I stole the title, but it fits, really. It is finally summer here in beautiful Susanville. That is how it goes here. Cold wet cold wet cold wet summer. They are tearing up my usual route around Eagle Lake off of Hwy 36 or Hwy 139, which has been one of my favorite loops. So I took a ride up Janesville Grade,as they call it, to check things out. janesville, ca - Google Maps It is a road that runs up the mountain from Janesville, Ca which is just out side of Susanville on Hwy 395. Because it runs up the mountain it is all switchbacks. It goes up into Plumas National Forest. Once on top of the mountain it branches off to a medium sized lake called Antelope Lake or it runs along the mountains East and South towards Reno. The pavement is great in the best spots. In a car you would have to go about 35 to 40 MPH, on the bike you can go as fast as you feel comfortable. I rode for 2 hours before I ran out of usable pavement. Very little traffic because no one lives up there. The occasional truck pulling a boat or rancher checking on cattle. Because it is during the week, I mostly had the place to myself. Sorry for the crappy photos, still getting used to my wife's camera. Just had to share some of my joy.
Welcome back to the land of the Riding! Glad winter's over for you. Enjoy the rides... You have any more pic???
I'll just have to go again in a couple days to get some better pics. It is all practice with the wife's camera for those action shots of the umbrella girls at Laguna!!!
