:crazy:I have a 2000 model and just replaced the thermostat for the second time.Ihave had old yellow for almost four years, before this bike I owned a 98 for five years and two thermostats . I am just wondering is it just me or is this a common failure . The first one cost me out the nose then I decided to take on number two and then three and four on the 2000 model all were stuck open . It wouldn,t be so bad if it wasn't so hard to get to about three to four hours for me . Just looking for sugestions

That does suck, same brand thermostat every time or is it a mix of brands?

It sure seems like the Honda VFR thermostat suffers from some defect in either design, manufacturing or construction--at least it fails open in a "safe" configuration. So many of my non-vfr bikes have gone a very long time with no t'stat issues whatsoever... jinx!

All have been Honda but this last one ,its a slightly modified NAPA for a Honda Accord though it was pill to fit. it seems to be working fair , running about 170f (180f thermo) although it is about mid 40s to 60s . I got the idea from a Honda ST forum ,I'm hoping that the wax plug size will make a difference,no one I have found that makes a replacement but Honda
