    I am a bit confused
    I always thought the
1990 to 1993 was the 3rd gen and the
    1994-1997 was the fourth gen

    That's correct.

What about the brace doesn't fit? What is the diameter dimension with it assembled?

If it was on a 94, it should fit on 90 - 97.

I have it that the 4th Gen began with the '95 yr. Also that '97 was a little different from the '96 which is why there is a '97 only Service Manual. The '94 has a 51420-MZ7-003 slider, the '97 has a 51420-MZ7-013 slider...so something is different.
As for the brace fit; it will not go between the sliders....it is just a bit too large....probably by about 2mm at the most. I have tried several way in trying to get the brace to fit, but stopped at using a hammer to force it. Would likely damage the brace and slider.

    Open to suggestions....

You have it wrong. the 94 to 97 (4th Gen) VFRs are IDENTICAL. The triple clamps between 90 - 97 are IDENTICAL dimension wise.

The parts are superceded to -013. Perhaps a very slight change in color.

    Assemblies where 51420-MZ7-003 is used

    Lower Triple Clamp:
    Assemblies where 53200-MZ7-000 is used

Take the front wheel off. One side of the fork slider on the axle can be manipulated upon assembly. With the wheel off (and the fender loosened) you can likely manipulate the forks apart a bit to fit it.

Seller told me he had it on a '94 for six years. Could be that it was really a '93....or a previous owner put different forks on it.....IDK. All I know is that it will not fit my '97.

I will have to change my original posting to be '90-'93.

The 90 - 97 forks and triple clamps are the same dimension wise. No difference in fitment.

I had the front wheel and fender off, loosened the lower and upper clamps....brace just would not go between the sliders. Guess I could always try it again....and attempt to take a picture of it not fitting.
The coolant pump is off as it is leaking from the weep hole....so my VFR is not going anywhere for awhile.

No need. I believe you. I guess I don't believe the seller then.

But maybe have a helper spread the forks apart a bit. Or get a piece of wood slightly bigger and wedge it where the axle goes if you really think it was actually mounted on a 94 previously.

Did you also loosen the bolts on the brace? In the pic, one side is askew.

I removed the fender and front wheel...again. Removed one side of the brace (there are five pieces to it), had the left side on the slider and attached the outside clamp piece, snug but not overly tight. Tried to put the right piece in place...nope...no way. So I remembered I had an old table saw belt tightner....goes between the motor pulley and the saw blade pulley....got it out, put it between the sliders to spread them out a bit. I also had the axle in place, but not the screw-in bolt. Anyways after spreading the sliders apart a bit and as far as I was willing to go....the brace still would not go into place....but it was very close. Got a block of wood and a very small hammer and tapped the brace into place....put all the bolts in....tightened them all.

Measured the distance between centers at the top bridge, then measured at the brace, then again at the ends of the sliders....all were within 0.5mm.

So the brace does fit a '97 VFR750F.....how about that. Just does not drop into place....is a very snug fit.

I will keep it unless tosaw still wants it. IMG_1017.JPG IMG_1018.JPG

"So the brace does fit a '97 VFR750F.....how about that."

I'm feeling the love from here.

    Yeah.....feel the love!!....
I am used to the OEM fork braces on the '85 V65 Honda Magma and Sabre I had; these would drop into position, no spreading of fork tubes. This is what I was expecting and why I thought this brace did not fit. That is my excuse and I am sticking to it!

Going to be awhile before I get to try it out....as I mentioned above (I think), the coolant pump had a leak at the weep hole, so I have it off, sent out to be rebuilt as I do not have a hydraulic press.
