Hi folks, I've lurked on here for awhile now, but thought I would introduce myself. I ride a 2002 VFR800 and live in Chicago, IL, USA. We have a new baby in the house, so right now the bike gets rented out on twisted road and riders share more than I ride it myself. Although I am planning to do some commuting to work on the bike to avoid having to take public transit with COVID. I feel fairly comfortable with basic maintenance, and I'm here mostly to see opinions and suggestions on how to tackle maintenance and upgrades. I also try to get to the track (I have a track only 2004 GSXR600) and for less money, less risk, but still plenty of skill building, MiniMoto Racing with a 2000 XR100 and Central Illinois Minimoto. Chicagoland is a waste is terms of good roads - but someone created a VFR800 driftless district - there are some beautifl roads in South Western Wisconsin, a two hour buzz on the freeway from the city. I also use the VFR for research trips, which takes me from Chicago to the east coast and back most summers.
Hey rbatzell, I'm in the western burbs. I feel your pain on the Chicago roads, but it's better than not riding! Congrats on the baby!
chitown too big for me, usta live in evanston when it was dry and we hadda go to howard street to drink. sorry about the baby, it's gonna cost a fortune.
You ride share your bike? Jeez thats wild, So, If I fly to Chico-land, and I pay you and you see I am not an ax murderer - I get to ride your bike to Wisconsin if I want? Sounds like a dream deal. How much do you rent it for? Was thinking about a 600 to leave in europe but they break your balls with inspections and such, we have to see. The baby is a life enhancer, don't believe they are money drainerz
