    Wine Preferences

    OK folks.

We have discussed cigars, and beer. We have come up with some really good posts on that one. We have spoken of Scotch but some of you seem to think that Bourbon is in the same league.:argue2::brick: Now how about wine for you artsey fartsey types.

I am going to start trying some different wines from around the world. One that I have enjoyed in the past:

Guntrum's Nershteiner a white that comes in at about an 02 was my favourite for years. Never really drank red until I discovered how good it tasted when having pasta.

I am not a connoisseur of wines so help me out here folks. Even if it is drank from a brown paper bag, if you think it is good, lets give it a try.

Moscato D'Asti is a very tasty, sweet and slightly bubbly white wine I really enjoy.

Its only 5% alcohol too, so you can have more than normal and not get plowed.

    Bottoms up!

im not too big on whites so mostly know my reds.

    if you want to try something from this end of the world i can recommend these;

Wolf Blass Cab Sav (yellow Label)

    or

(my pers Fav )- Peter Lehman cab sav-('gold medal winner')

as with most reds they are absolutey best drunk with food.

if you like your red a little softer, the Wolf blass Cab Merlot is the ticket

both brands have excellent websites and should be avail ex the US.

    cheers!

    Mr. Thompson,

I was hoping someone form your neck of the woods would reply cause I have heard that they do produce some fine wines down under. I hope these are available in our stores here in Canada. We can get just about anything if we want to order it and wait. though.

Well, it's not wine but in the artsy-fartsy category. I love K Hard Cider and you can read up more info at this following link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K_cider

From what I've heard it's hard to get and there's only one liquor store in town that has it. It's got a distinctive taste and is quite delicious. The taste is smooth yet just a little bitter and a little sweet. I rarely drink but when I do I always go for a 6-pack and be ready to stay put for at least four hours because the strong alcohol content will render you undriveable within one bottle.

your welcome Randy, and please call me rich, or hey you, anything but 'Dick'!

yep these are mighty fine wines, if you ever want to go on a wine trail then look no further than the hunter valley in australia or the marlborough region
in the south island of NZ. both prolific & extraordinary wine producing areas

and GREAT riding country...of course i dont advocate drinking & driving,
but nothing wrong with riding, getting drunk, sleeping then more riding...

Great. What highway do I take to get there from Canada? LOL! My son is over there right now. Lost his wallet and cards. The who bit but I am sure he is having a great time. Australia is definitely on my list of places to go. Gotta do Scotland first.

Can't get drunk anymore. Diabetes has limited me to two a day. And doc said two glasses not kegs. Bugga.

Well gotta go. Have to change the locks on the doors before the boy comes home. kiddin

Yes the Ice Wines are sweet. Discovered only recently I believe, comparatively speaking. But pricey though.

Undriveable after 9.3 ounces of 6.9% abv draft cider? wow...you really do only drink rarely don't you?

I wonder what would happen to you if you drank one of my favorite beer six packs called Hopslam by Bell's Brewery in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It's a super hopped up IPA with an ABV of 10%. Delicious. If you're a fan of IPA's though.

My favorite red to date is a 2005 Finca Dubois Bonarda - Mendoza. It is produced in Argentina, my reason for trying it first out of my last mixed case shipment was the wine maker is an avid motorcyclist.

I was also very suprised by a 2005 Forest Park Cellar Selection Merlot from Graton, CA. I normally despise Merlot's but this one is exceptional IMHO.

If you really want to try a variety of wines from around the world check out
www.4seasonswine.com I get four mixed cases a year. They also provide handy informational cards w/ all the pertenant information about each product along w/ reorder info so you can stock up on your favorites. So far its been a pretty good deal about $120-130 a case.
