Anyone have any short trips they like to go on? Do you have any local destinations?
I have a bunch of local rides I like to take I call rides to nowhere. On some day trips my wife and I like to stop off at a local legend. Carl's Ice Cream. They are only open three of the four seasons and it is a real treat, a blast from the past.

Any other good local legneds out there. Where?

I have some routes around Maryland. most are about 100 miles if not less.
a few around Annapolis, then white's ferry, North beach, etc.

I have them in my Zumo and can email them per request.

Because I don't need another reason to eat I usually just drive aimlessly around, mostly route 28, Maryland and River road. But then again I'm a newbie just trying to take it slow.

    +1 on Carl's. That's some good stuff.
I've got several around Fredericksburg/Manassas. Pretty much any direction from my house is nice with no traffic. The ride to the mountains is good enough not to even go up the mountains when you get there.
We need to ride one day. I'm at work all day today, stop in. Maybe we can plan something for next Sunday?

A group ride sounds good. Let's plan something.
I'm busy for the next 2 weekends but early july sounds good.

here in LA, on sunday it's all about the rock store. HERE
i'll usually take mulholland in from the east, stop for a quick look, perhaps a bit to eat, then head out going south-west turning left on latigo canyon road HERE straight to the PCH.

    usually a several hour ride.

I have a couple of "short" routes. I take 25W to Hwy 90 out to Cumberland Falls. I also take a route with takes me out to Laurel Lake. I don't remember all the road numbers for that one tho. Then, if I really want just a trip to blast some twisties, I can ride out Hwy 26 up to Corbin. Not super twisty, but it has a few.

I was thinking that we seem to have a small group together now and we should start planing rides and trips.

Let's do it. Possibly next Sunday? Mountains? All day trip? 400+ miles? I may not be able to go cause my best friend is coming home that morning, but he'll be with his GF anyway so I'll probably ride. Lets set it up in the Virginia Riders thread.
Nice to meet you and your wife today Bitterpill. I saw you while we were going down the road and figured yall wouldn't wait for us to come back but I guess Patrick kept you occupied.

Yeah, I saw you gong out on call and figgured you'd be on the truck. We rode for a while and then stopped by in the hopes youd be back by then. Your buddy Patrick was very helpful and made us feel at home.

I'm game for a ride, and yes, we seem to have a little group so far. Next weekend in my anniversary, and as understanding as my wife is, taking off with the boys might be pushing it a bit.
