I was using a myfi with XM last year. The antenna didn't always work that great but I would let it record and used the memory to play while I rode. If you have a data plan on your phone you can play xm through it via xstreamxm, com

    To the OP:

Yeah I have the Sirius portable unit and I had the same issue as above, was a little disappointed the antenna will not pick up the signal if you are moving. You need a clear signal to record as well. For me that means leaving the unit outside. They don't tell you all that before you buy them. It's a little bit of a hassle. I would not buy it again.

Now the sirius (factory installed radio) in my truck works like a champ, no problems there.

    XM SkyFi.
Has built in Antenna and headphone output. (headphones have volume control built in or use the front control on rcvr) Then add the external antennna and there are no problems. It will run 5-6 hours on a charge for short hops or plug into 12V outlet for long trips. I leave the unit in the map pocket of my tank bag so I can see it and reach controls. I use the clip on antenna and it is clipped to the screen.

I got the sirius portable. It arrived today. I took it outside and activated the unit and WOW! I WAS SOOOOO DISAPOINTED. reception SUCKS. IF I stand perfectly still it world poorly. If i decide to walk... I lose signal. As son as I stop walking the signal comes in but hte quality of the audio is POOR......
IT took all of 15 mins for me to call in and request a refund.

I have siruis in my car and it works great but this portable thing BLOWS.

Have a Sirius portable radio. Love it. I took the antenna/ headphone and cut the headphone portion of it. Made a bracket to mount the radio on my triple clamp, mounted the antenna on top of the instrument panel, and listened with a pair of earbuds.

I just got back on a trek from Florida to DC to Ohio and back to Florida. I used it most of the time driving and had great reception even through the mountains.

Using satellite radio on a motorcycle all depends on using the right antenna. If you can't find one, make one.

I had the XM Myfi. I would keep that in the tankbag. I got the car kit for it also, ran the wires up the tank along with the wires for the ant. The ant. was ran under the seat and I had some double sided tape and put the ant. puck just past the rear cowl. Reception was great unless I was in a canyon....the thing worked great.
