Motorcycledaily.com reports that the long rumors might be true & we ought to know in September. (Hey if it's in the interweb tubes, it must be true, right?)

    Motorcycle Daily

"Honda has frequently used its Interceptor (which we affectionately refer to as the "VFR" in our title) as a showcase for new technology, such as variable valve timing (to the extent that the two-valve/four-valve switch in the Interceptor can accurately be described as variable valve timing), ABS brakes, etc. A replacement for the current Interceptor has been rumored for some time, and it is rumored (yet again) to be coming this Fall. This time around, the V-4 sport tourer should feature larger displacement (possibly 1,000cc) as well as some new technology. The new technology? Perhaps some form of automatic gearbox, and certainly an updated version of Honda's combined ABS (which it has been showcasing recently on a prototype CBR600RR). Expect some rather dramatic new styling, as well."

I've never bought a first year anything, but I don't know if I'll be able to wait a couple years for Honda to work the bugs out on this one... I've already been waiting soooooo long.

I'm still gonna wait and see. The only first year of anything I bought was a used T/A, 1982 model. I liked it, but it ate staters and alternators and no one could figure out why. There were other issues as well, so I try to stay away from first year models.

I had a couple of F body cars in the late 80's and I can say they never fixed the alternator problem but they added a mass air flow sensor problem and manifold absolute pressure problem. "Code 33+34"..... Saw that a few times. Honda is usually pretty good at getting things right though. Usually its an evolution of what they have done. Besides look how many years they've had to test!!!

God I hope so. I had my 93, and finally sold it after many years of excellent service and got an RC51. Love the 51 but for totally different reasons. If Honda does anything like the rumor mill is saying, I will be there to get mine for sure.
