The VFR just fits me better, both the FJR and Concours are too tall and heavy for my tastes.

And the VFR is really a sports bike with comfortable ergos that can tour. In the twisties, the FJR and Concours can't keep up.

    It was purty.

And the sound of the V4 made my piggy tail stick straight out. :)

And I was looking for another sport tourer.

I feel warm all over having read this thread

I have wanted a VFR for about 10-years, and have finally decided spring of next year I will be buying a 5th Gen VFR. I have been riding my '85 Nighthawk 650 for 18+ years, it's time for an upgrade.

Even though I'm not yet an owner, my reasons are
    1- I'm a Honda guy ('73 CB350/4, '81 Accord, '85 Nighthawk 650, '87 CRX-Si, '90 CRX-Si, '02 S2000)
2- When I ride I like to put down hundreds and hundreds of miles, as in an all day run, I need a longer wheelbase to gain that comfort.
3- On the rare occasion I hear/see a VFR, the music coming from that V4 just stops me in my tracks
4- Rear single side arm suspension is one of the most beautiful and brilliant designs I have ever seen, awesome attention to detail and independent thinking.
5- It comes in yellow

Oddly enough I knew of Intercepters in my younger days, but I didn't know of the VFR until I saw mine, and I fell in love right there. I was looking at Katanas, and asked a co-worker what he thought of them. He told me, and then mentioned that his friend was selling his VFR. I had to google it to see what it was. I researched, then met up for a test ride, and gave him cash right there. I can't say exactly what it was, the styling, the feel, the sound, it wasn't a Suzuki. I love it.

    Personally?

Well, to be honest the V-4 Captured me in high school...... There is no sound that compares... Time and again I have heard the following: "I wish my ninja sounded as good stock as that."

There is no comparison...... on top of all that guess what.... You get the support of one of the best forums on the net... this forum alone has saved me time and time again..... Hnads down if I ever decide on a newer machine than my 2002....... It willl be a 2007 0r 2008 so I can mainatain this brotherhood, no.... this comune of like minded individuals... These people genunely care about their fellow rider of the best machine ver developed on 2 wheels........ what more can you ask for????

Make mine a VFR at all costs!

This is a easy one...:) JMO....I currently have a 06 fjr, had a 05 vfr, still have a 00 vfr, I bought the fjr over the concours 14 after tons of test rides..I just find it a much smaller feeling, lighter feeling, wayyy cooler bike to ride, and by cooler, I mean not a %^% oven like the older fjr and hotter concours 14, ..sounds good eh?

Now compared to my vfr?? there is no comparison.!!.The fjr is huge, its heavy, way too much work to move around at low speed compared to the vfr, its high, it has lousy efi off idle calibration like my vtech had, it has a clunky gearbox that you have to use the clutch to shift smoothly, it gives you little wind when its hot out( unless u cut down the shield like I did) It has the typical four banger ho hum noises and vibration.

Now the good and the reason i have one? I needed a long range 2 up bike for this summer. My vfr was fine for a few days, but not in this league...It was the best all day 2 upper I could find to my liking for riding 2 up only and still being able to enjoy it..It is fast and it handles.and it acts the same loaded or solo..solid as a rock...it will blow the sidecovers off the vfr in a drag, see ya! we found that out time and time again..quite a surprise!...and it will handle every bit as good with equal drivers, no question there. dream on racer boys if you think it won't in the real world with equal drivers.. kinda same deal as the vfr always as fast as the ss bike thing..:)
Its maintenance schedule is longer and cheaper than the honda. Yammys have twice as long valve intervals.

So looky? I did find some good!

But do i love it..nooooo.not really. I always ride the vfr when solo!

That is the only reason I have it..its the best of the bunch of the big tankers far as i was concerned for 2 up...If i had no passenger? No thanks, its a big tanker... it is in a whole diff class than the vfr, its with the st13 tankerbike and the connie 14 freighter. Once you decide what type of bike you want, then in its class, both would be great.

Would I recomend the vfr over the fjr..for 1 up, no contest..like comparing a ferrari to a diesel 1 ton! 2 up, loaded, all day for a week..? diff story.

what you looking for? my fjr is on sale :)

    good luck...
