VFR will NEVER be an unexpected and unbelievably fast motorcycle. Sorry but it is a fact. On the other hand It IS a bike that does every thing you can ask from a bike very well. If you want an unexpected and unbelievably fast motorcycle sell your VFR and buy a bike that works that way.

Supercharger and a whole bunch of internal mods to support the increased chamber pressure and air volume. Might give you enough to keep up with a CBR600RR.

Not much you can do to it other than putting a supercharger on it. Unfortunately this would be very expensive and time consuming. As already stated, if you are looking for a bike with ass kicking speed you need to sell yours and buy a pure sport bike not a sport tourer. The VFR is designed to be a comfy good all-around bike not a speed demon. Unlike most sport bikes you can tear up the twisties and ride it all day long and not feel like you have been sitting on a 2 x 4

    Regards,
    Rollin

Sorry to say, all these guys know what they're talking about. The VFR is not one that mods easy, nor cheaply.

Look up the TORO-charger. A super charger for the 5th gen. Will only cost around 5 thousand.

If you update the suspension and go to a Race School, your VFR will be unexpectedly unbelievably fast to any one behind you. I have yet to do these things, but you should hear the comments I get when I pass guys on liter bikes in the twisties- especially since I never remove the hard bags that are holding their water! The VFR may be portly, but when she moves she moves with grace that no repli-racer can. I always use "Fantasia" as an analogy- you see these hippo's being very graceful dancing as ballerina's, even though they are heavy. The VFR does everything well, so the best way to ride it is by the rider being smooth as it is.

If you want a fast bike go to track then ride twisties.
a vfr will not destroy a cbr1000RR down a strait road, nor would i want it to.

the vfr is a well balanced bike that corners very well and is very stable.
