My 1986 VFR 700F does not come with a centerstand, is there a model with a compatible one? If not, are there any tips for supporting the bike for service?
    thanks

If you have a 4 into one exhaust, NO. With the stock dual system or atleast the stock collector, YES it did come w/ one origanally. As far as servicing I dangle my bike from the rafters w/ tie downs which can be intersting @ times but works.

    Hey T-bone,
Maybe it depends on what type of a 4 into one exhaust you have, i used to have a 86 vfr700f that had a 4 into one exhaust and a center stand ?

Possible just assumed there was an issue as all in this vintage I've seen w/ single side exhaust have had the center stand removed. :noidea:

    Hey Texas,
I cant say for sure but i think 86 & 87 stand alone, i dont think a 84 will work, but i have been known to be wrong ? good luck

The 1986 VFR700/750F was a complete redesign, so finding an older model centerstand probably won't work, but the stand for the '86 700 and 750 should be interchangeable. I've seen them on eBay every now and then.

I just asked for one on the first gen thread and Danimal had one. Now I have one!

So, just ask, and you might get lucky too!

actually the 1st gen VFR's came with an optional center stand. start posting up WTB ads and ill bet youll find one soon enough. theyre fairly easy to install, but ya have to remove the exhaust to get the center stand installed, so its really a 2 man job. make sure ya get all the necessary parts when you buy one though: center stand, mounting rod thing, cotter pin (to hold the mounting rod in place), and the spring that holds the center stand up while riding.

Speed: you're incorrect on this one, since the centerstand did NOT come standard equipment but was an extra-cost option....

this is correct. not all VFR's came with them from the factory, but lucky for us, all the VFR's were made with the mounting points (at least 1st gen VFR's). the tab for the spring, the slots for the mounting bar, etc. are all there. you simply need to find the parts and assemble the centerstand on your bike.

That's right, according to the original owner I got the bike from, he said it was a $28 option.

And only the right side exhaust has to come off at the 'y'.

i guess it depends on the exhaust you have on the bike now, Army. I dont think i had my centerstand yet while i still had my stock exhaust, so i dont know what would have to come apart there, but i DO know that with a 4-2-1 exuahst, the baffle actually has to come off to allow the centerstand to go in place as it should.

One thing I didn't think of, the left side exhaust has a beefed up weld for the stand to rest against in the up position.
