    Hello out there,

My 05 VFR is in need of new brake pads. My local dealer is pushing EBC brakes on me. A couple of friends of mine say that EBC pads tend to fade. I was thinking of using OEM stockers. Any thoughts or maybe recommendations on brake brands?

That's the first I've heard of EBC pads fading. Both the EBC's and Honda pads are HH rated. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. I put a set of the EBC's on and I really like them. They seem to have a little more bite with out being abrupt. I haven't done a track day with them but I haven't noticed any fading repeatedly riding my favorite mountain roads.

some aftermarket pads (like EBC HH) seem to have higher friction and stop somewhat better than Honda pads..

pads are balancing tradeoff between hard, longlasting pads and softer, stronger-stopping short-lived pads....
