There's a good article about the DN-01 in the British magazine Bike this month. (Best bike mag in the world, BTW.) The title is, "What the Hell is the DN-01?"

... and oh yeah, it's an automatic.

The DN-01 was discussed months ago. I think we all decided we didn't like it.

I know some people that purchased a Suzuki 650 Burgman and love it, they even purchased a set of training wheels (they call it a 3 wheeler?) to go with it. Who knows, maybe there is a market for this bike, like; beginners, mentally challenged, older generation that have lost their hand eye skills and still want to ride and maybe the up and coming gas saving scooter generation.

I was just glad to see it didn't have the v5 in it. That would have been even worse. CVT might not be that bad, I talked to a guy at Indy on an Aprilia Mana about the automatic and he said it was great. He hadn't ridden motorcycles in years and said he was going to get a big scooter but bought the Mana instead. It looked like you could fit more in the storage area where the gas should go than I can in my hard bags. We told him it was way cooler than a big scooter. The auto bikes may be a stepping stone for people to get back into riding or to try riding for the first time.

This thing costs more than any honda but the ST1300 and the Goldwing. I just don't get it. Its heavy too. It weighs more than a VFR, but has less power. If it were cheap, like SV650s price range it would make sense....

    Who cares about the DN-01?

What I want to know is if those wheels are 4 bolt or 5 bolt. It appears that thing has the same wheel mounting hub as the VFR so not necessarily a huge upgrade, but that will make one more wheel that is available to us.

    KC-10 FE out...

Those look like a nice set of wheels too, from what I can see. But as for the rest of the bike, Honda has lost their minds. The price alone is enough to scare most people away, then you show them the bike and people flee for their lives. WTF!! That thing came to market, but nothing, nothing done to the Vfr.

    DN-01:
Why the hell would Honda spend the time, effort and money to bring such an ugly,un-inspiring POS to the market?
Is there a huge un-tapped market for an over-priced ugly scooter that we don't know about???
This thing is going to be a huge failure and embarassment to Honda!!!
Why do they continually refuse to do any improvements to the VFR?
I believe there is a healthy market for a sporty tourer that just needs to be awakened with an exciting new model.

    I'm glad I'm not a Honda salesman!!!!!

    On the bright side:
No new model,no temptation to trade in my beloved '02!!!!

Aside from the porky weight and the cornering clearance, it looks okay to me; more appealing than a Gold Wing or their cruiser lineup. If I had $14 grand to blow on a new bike, I'd try out one of them 800GS beemers...:peep:

Japan. Seriously. 95%+ of the 2 wheelers over there are scoots. This thing looks a lot like the scoots they ride...

Here's a pic I took at the Tokyo motorcycle show as an example:
