    Greetings....
i've tried to read all the "Strange Noise...Banging/knocking" threads and haven't see this one yet, so redirect me if it's here.
    at any rate:

2004 VFR and at idle in neutral or at speed in any gear, I'm hearing a tapping, much like the sound of a lifter in/near the front of the engine. I cannot isolate it. I have had no change in performace, am meticulous with maintenance.
NOW FOR THE STRANGE PART: When the bike is upright, the noise continues, on a chance, I leaned the bike hard both sides. To the right, no change. To the left, it goes quiet. when the bike is back upright, it after a few seconds.

I'm sure one of you brilliant folks out there knows exactly what this is, so its probably only strange to me. but I appreciate your feedback nonetheless.

    someguy~

Cam chain tensioner is going bad is what it sounds like, honda does not put any effort in reliability of their cam chain tensioners . That is the main reason I own the gear driven cam model , been there done the tensioner thing .

Most people replace the Honda tensioners with a tensioner you can adjust manualy. On the 2002-2008 models it is a common for the tensioners to get weak and not operate as they should arfter 10,000-15,000 miles.
