That will really get you noticed and looks great. I would like to do that to my 06. Can you tell me what you used and where to get it ?

Used LEDs only, no neon tubes.
    All up cost me about $AUS 60 ($US 40) and 2hrs work
Its quite subtle in the daylight and only noticeable in the dark. And the effect is impressive. I sure do get noticed now.
All mats are bought from ebay, most of it from China - i got the led strips with remote control switch box package. That includes 3 pairs of 12, 6 and 3 LED strips and wires
No holes, everything is on double-sided tape, zip ties and soldered plugs for easy fairing removal/service etc.

    Hope that helps.

Wished we could get away with that here. Unauthorized lights here in the Canadian Federal Republic of BC (CFRBC) I have a pearl white. I think it would look great with red L.E.D.'s

As far as I know the lights aren't strictly legal... but I'm yet to have any hassles.

Helps that they have remote switch so i can turn them off when i see a cop car

Very nice. What source do you have them wired to. Straight to the battery?

Here, you can have the lights. But you cannot use them. Sound strange? That's the Canadian Ferderal Republic of British Columbia for you.

    Hey Randy,

Is that just a B.C. law? Or federal? Or does each province maintain jurisdiction and make up their own stupid laws?....regarding lights that is.

Its a bit of a mixed bag. Traffic laws are a Provincial matter like they are in the US. Most cities have traffic by-laws. There are Federal Standards that the Provincial laws conform with. As far as safety equipment is concerned, you will find that Canada, USA, and Mexico are all very consistant with each other. It can be confusing if you don't work with it a lot. In BC, the Unauthorized Lights is under our Motor Vehicle Act. You should be able to pull up Ontario's equivelent of the Motor Vehilce Act from your Provincial Governments Home Page. You will likely find that a similar law is on your books too. There is a reason for this which is long and drawn out. A lot has to do with personal safety of the travelling public and emergency vehilces.

Thanks Randy. Yes, we do have a similar law here in Ontario. The "manual" on Ontario's website is way too damn long to read through but I do know the law does exist. If I want to know the finer details of the law, I know where to find out. I think I'm a little past the pimpin' stage anyway.

I knew the law was applied to cars & trucks and assumed they would apply to bikes as well. I was once told about the law having something to do with emergency vehicle lights etc, so that just confirms the reason as well.

    Thanks.

    I'd do it.

I always thought it would make night driving safer for the rider. I'd do it.

Whaaat? You now shopping for an urn and plot?

There is one lighting regulation that gets relaxed to the benifit of bike riders. Here in BC anyways, and likely most other jurisdictions. There is an exemption for modulation headlights. It is confusing as hell to find what is allowed. I don't think this applies to brake lights but I also believe that police will overlook the modulating brake lights too as they are all about safety.

In a nut shell, we here can have headlights that modulate between high and low beam a certain number of times a second. The MVA makes reference to a Federal Standard, which has been repealed and replaces with another Federal Standard. Typical. Basically these can only be used during daylight hours otherwiise you would be violating the section under the MVA which required you to dim your lights when you come within a certain distance of following or on coming vehicles. And besides, the intent of this exemption is for high visibility during daylight hours. This is when a motorcycle is at greatest risk of not being seen.

I beg to differ, my one and only major accident happened in the dusk and i routinely get drivers that fail to notice the bike at night. Daytime is by far the safest time to ride.

Yeah they're connected to the battery with a 10A fuse in between the relay and the battery.

Almost every biker that I have ever met that has those lights on their bike turned out to be squid. They think they look hot wearing tank tops, shorts, and tennis shoes riding on a neon lit bike. I'm just glad part of the reason you put them on your bike was for the safety factor.

Those pictures bring back painful memories of the "Redneck Riveria" also know as Panama City, Florida.

    Regards,
    Rollin

Yep I can agree that dusk and dawn are bad times. But after 25 years of investigation Motor Vehicle Accidents, you will never convince me that you are more visible during the daytime without lights than you are at night time with lights. I can see this could turn into a no win debate.

There are always some exceptions to rules of life and you incident may be one of them. The best part of your major incident, was that it was not so major that you are unable to debate this with me right now. So long as you understand that I am right and you are wrong.:vader:

Agreed except for driving without lights during the day...don't all motorcycles come with the low beams/taillights hard wired(always on) now?.

Anyways, it is all about contrast. Around Dusk/Dawn everything tends to blend into backgrounds better because of the lighting or lack there of.

Take brake lights for example....you don't notice the intensity of them, you just notice the change from dim to bright. Or hunting in the woods. It's a lot harder to see an animal when it's still compared to when it's moving. At night, your lights provide a helluva lot more contrast than they would during the day. This contrast is well helps other drivers identify you more quickly.

Then again, if they're not paying attention, nothing matters. You're s.o.l.
