The paint on my 87" Viffer is getting a wee bit sad and cracking in places and i want to paint it. I was thinking black with some white to brake up the black that way i wont have to paint the wheels. So should i or shant i? and where would be a good place to put some white?

i would try to leave as original, always better for resale later.
But if it`s just for you ,try pearl white basecoat first as it is difficult to get coverage with white over darker colours, then other colours, stripes and decals as required then clear 2k all over to seal all in,
    good luck!

PLEASE not black.... The most over used and most boring color for motorcycles.
There is no look better than the original on these old darlings. But you can use the color settings of ´94-´97 models on your bike and it look´s good. I have painted many bikes and used this settings on four bike´s like yours, one metalic blue, one yellow and two red and used the same metalic black on the wheels, grabrails, mirrors and down on the lower fairings and it just looks good.

I second that motion. It's a beautiful machine in its original colors.

Yea i do love the RWB so i might look into getting it touched up. Theres a bit right beside the headlight that must have been a stone chip and the water has got into in and lifted the paint.
