Anybody using a Scorpion Exhaust system? My dealer/mechanic recommends it. He says it sounds great and has a lifetime warranty. Just thought I'd see if anyone could back him up.

Hey vifferchic, I've got a Stainless Scorpion hi level pipe on my 97 VFR and yep, been pretty pleased with it. It's a race pipe but not overley loud so the coppers haven't pulled me over yet :) and gives a small but noticable increase in power, especially in the upper revs. Now I've got the K+N air filter all I'm missing is the Dynojet and a rolling road tune. Just a matter of time I guess. I'd reccommend one but, as always, it's down to personal choice. Not sure about the warranty as I bought mine secondhand.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for the feedback, Elvie. I think I'm going to go forward with the Scorpion. It apparently has a ceramic inner lining which keeps the exhaust from discoloring as well. However, I think I'm going to stay with the low mount. I really like the looks of the high mount better but I need something that I can use saddle bags with. I've heard that if you have a high mount exhaust, the saddle bags won't work becuase they end up laying on the pipe. Oh well, I guess I'll stick to the low mount. ???

I know the prob you're talking about with sadlebags and the hi level but there is a way around it. Depending on the style of saddlebags (I have the square looking ones as opposed to the tapering ones that you can get for sportsbikes), I just put a record bag (large, square but quite thin holdall for all your vinyl LP's) on the pillion seat and stuff it with a sleeping bag or something similiarly bulky and that'll be enough to raise the saddlebags over the pipe. Ok, you raise the C of G a little more but if your'e touring with 30lbs of luggage then how much does it really matter. Alternatively, buy some heat reflective tape for the rearside of the saddlebags. Of course, if you really prefer the low level then that'll look good too ;D

    Hope this helps

I just purchased the stainless set today for my 04. Can anyone verify that the stainless cans DO NOT need repacking? I'm pretty sure they don't, just want to make sure....

You do not have to repack the Scorpion cans.

The scorpion exhaust is the best way to go<
i did a shit load of research and scorpion is way up there
    along with devilbikes exhaust systems.
if you guys want a louder sound with scorpion pipes<?
Take the catalic converter and you will notice a faster take off and louder v4 sound< I did this to my viffer 02 and man I'm loving it< 8)

This is a old thread but I just got a set of Scorpions stainless also and they sound great and look good to me also. Problem I have is they arent loud at all once you get going I cant even hear them. Is there a way to make them louder. I dont want it so loud it bothers me riding it and people hear me blocks away or anything but Id like to at least be able to hear them at speed.
If you take off the cats dont you need another pipe or something?
