I installed my PCIII and the O2 eliminator came in the mail today and when I went to install this I found what I believe is two O2 sensors. I did a little checking found a site that sells O2 eliminators and they say 02 - 05 VFR's have two O2 sensors. Is this true?
All 6th gen VFRs have two 02 sensors, on the left hand side, forward and just below the coolant resovior bottle.
I am getting ready to purchase & install a PCIII and that is correct, the service manual shows 2 oxygen sensors, 1 in each exhaust pipe beneath the bike. I thought the sensors stay in the pipes and the eliminators plug into each wiring harness further up under the engine?
yodasmile Just follow the wires from the O2 sensors at the exhaust, One plug is black and the other one is kind of clearish turning beige. Both plugs have 4 wires ea. Unplug carefully and plug the O2 Eliminators to the plugs that goes to the engine(Not the exhaust). Simple. And yes you need 2 ea. O2 eliminators
To clarify, the sensors themselves are in the exhaust header pipes under the bike. The wires from the sensors connect to the wiring harness on the left hand side as described above. The elminators plug into the wiring harness. You should not have to, nor should you really, mess with the sensors themselves, other than to unplug them from the wiring harness. This thread (Make Your Own O2 Sensor Eliminators - VFRD) on "that other" VFR forum is very informative, IMHO.
