No brain damage? Oh, that's right, evidently he was already brain damaged prior to the incident, hence the moronic result.

No gear? wrecked bike while stunting?

Unfortunately your friend sounds like the Stereotypical Gixxer rider, shame really quite like the 750K4 even if past GSXR owners told me they're made from cheese.

It does seem to be the bike of choice for those people who want to get in over their heads. It's especially common here in my city where we have a lot of prep schools and Daddy's money will buy you a brand new "Gixxer" if you want one.

One of my friends recently picked up one of these for next to nothing. It's an '07 GSX-R 750. The original kid bought it, did mods and had it dyno tuned before he ever even learned to ride it. He had a couple of beers (idiocy), rode it hard across a bridge, hopped in the air over the expansion joint, and proceeded to thrash the bike.

Sometimes it makes you wonder if the parents don't know their kids well enough to realize they've just given them a loaded weapon to play with.

how true, or even if the person just stop to think, ( man i dont need something this big or mybe for my first bike ill get a learner bike or something) i just wish people would think sometimes, guys like him, ( when i say that hes a good buddy of mine but he just doesnt think sometimes) would just think before they act, dont go out there and buy the brand new 1400,1200 or whatever becouse you need to show everyone how cool you are. and i think thats what leads to a alot of deaths on motorcycles.

So................Uh....................the dude have plastics left? I banged my dixxer up racing my buddy's camaro and I need some plastic. I need a head light, too, but it seems if I check with your buddy's local firewood dealers, I might find the one I need. ;)

All kidding aside, that really is a spectacular sight and to have walked away from a crash like that is probably uncommon. Looking at the frame failure, it seems to me that it is a bit excessive to have cracked like that. Other bikes that I've seen that have taken a similar hit have taco'd the wheel and bent the forks. But to see a frame just flat out break like that is a bit disturbing.
Don't tell your buddy about the recall. He'll probably luck out and get a brand new and improved bike and then really kill himself. Go shopping with him and help him pick out a bike that might be a bit more tuned to his riding ability. Show him the statistics regarding new riders that get killed by their first bike because it is the wheeled equivalent of a 30.06. There have been way too many learners permits that never get to the license stage because the holders are dead or worse. As his friend and a more skilled rider, it could be up to you to teach him and save him from himself.
That is only if you care that much. Is his girlfriend hot and do you get along with her? Do you owe him money? Think of your options here.

I'm sure he's going to think the crash was the result of a failed frame and not the predictable result of excessive jackassery. If he didn't get hurt at all that will only help to re-enforce the opinion he did nothing wrong and the dumb bike let him down. You may consider getting a really big squeegie so you can scrape his dead carcass off the road next time because clearly he won't learn from this and will likely continue to do this type of squid behavior until the cops catch up with him or his luck runs out and he's dead. It's dickheads like that that make supersport motorcycles so damn expensive to insure. F that guy.

It is a kinda strange frame break, he had only had the bike 3 months maybe it had been a repair jobbie after a previous head on with a concrete wall. ?

Thought the GSXR frame recalls were limited to the GSXR1000K5 & K6, is there a frame recall specific to the 750K4 ?

    So no then ?

My point was the current dumassed rider only had this Gsxr750 for 3 months before it broke, who knows what kind of damage the previous rider from either single hit or accumulated fatigue through missuse this particular one had been subjected to, given their reputation would look very hard at the selling GSXR owner before buying a used one off him.

This is why I find it difficult to buy a used sport bike. I tend to stay away from the ones that come with an "extra sprocket for stunts" or even frame sliders. I went down to my buddies shop last summer and there was a guy who just bought a used SV650. While he was brimming with excitement over his new purchase, I couldn't help but notice that the exhaust outlet was ground down on a steep angle. The angle was suspiciously the same that you would achieve if the bike were on its rear wheel and way over the balance point. I just turned away and shook my head. When the guy left, we all started talking The poor guy had no idea that the bike he just bought probably had been flogged close to death and then sold to the first dimwit with a pocket full of cash. There ought to be a law.

    matt1986vf500f,
After reading your last post I hope your bud makes it this summer and beyond. I'm sure it must be frustrating trying to knock some sense into him. Unfortunatly sometimes the "I'm invincible" DNA over rules common sense (especially in the youth). It sounds like your a good friend and he is lucky to have you looking out for him. Maybe you can at least get him to start wearing the proper gear! Don't feel too bad, remember the old saying "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink". At least you've expressed your concern.

How old is the tool/squid? Make sure that you talk to his girlfriend and make sure that SHE doesn't get on the back of his new dixxer. I can't think of a more tragic thing but to have her killed due to his idiocy. There's no use having two dead friends.
