    Hi JB,

I doing good. Just got back from Houston and San Antonio - a little get-away with the family. Had a great time.

While in Houston two motorcycle cops mad the news by being hit by 4-wheelers. One was in a funeral procession. I get back to New Orleans and hear that a motorcycle cop was hit - in a funeral procession. Get back to work, talk to some of the guys in my office bulding that ride into work too, and hear that a rider I sold some of my old VTX geer to was hit within a block of his house. I've been riding for about 20 years, but I think I ma take a rider safety course. It can't hurt.

    Lets get another ride set....

JB - good to hear you got your bike back on the road
Dan - I take it you're back from Singapore?
Joe - those cagers are ruthless!

I've been wanting to do the Advanced MSF course for a while but have never actually singed up. Anyone else what to do this with me? If you've never done the basic course I'd recommend it. I learned a lot when I took it and I had been riding my whole life.

Here in New Orleans: Crescent City Motorcycle Training
Hammond and others: Motorcycle Training Course - Louisiana Department of Education

I was at a wedding in Florida this weekend and it looks like we had some killer winds at the office... strong enough to blow my bike over off its kickstand! I had always wondered if that could happen... Luckily it fell over into the grass and I think my top case kept the bodywork off the ground. The damage is limited to the right mirror and the right foot peg / brake mounting bracket. I had already ordered new mirrors (2000 VFR mirrors) because mine won't seem to stay fixed in place anymore and they should be here this week but I need to track down a foot peg mount. I already made some posts on the for sale forum but does anyone know of any 4th gen parts bikes around here?

Well Matt needs a foot-peg mount, and all they need to do for me is replace my radiator cooling fan, cuz it is grinding loudly - very noticeable and annoying.

I suppose once we're all put back together felluz, we'll be able to meet up soon and head out for another group ride adventure. In the meantime, I don't trust this fan, so I'll probably stick close to home until they swap it out with a fresh one.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

    Have a great weekend!

    Matt,
Just returned to Singapore. Made a Ride with JB while I was Home.
but then house / flooring cahnge got in the way didn't go on any long rides due to Freakin contract who couldn't show up to do his work. Wasted alot of good riding time the last two weeks I was home.

    JB,
Are they ordering your fan? they sorted out your coolant leak?
    How was Disney World?
    Joe,
on Valentines Day Wife and I went to destin for a few days. Our 30 th Wedding Anniversary. She got a Diamond Bracelet you all know what I got.
driving in on Sat we saw a downed brother. Paramedics were furiously working on him. Don't know if he made it. looked like a cager turn left in front of him on US Hiway 98 just over the bridge in Destin.

You Guys be extra careful out there. Let's Plan a ride for when I return in early April.
    I 'm up for it.

    Dan

Hey Dan! Yes sir, they are going to get a new fan in on Tuesday. One of the mechanics said I should be ok to ride until the new one comes in. I didn't notice it too much when you and I rode a couple of weeks ago b/c it was so cool that day, which probably kept the engine from engaging the fan as often; but today was warm and muggy, so that sucker kicked on at 220-F, and man does it ever grind!

Disney World was AwEsOmE!!! We noticed a 'LOT' of bikes traveling on Interstate 75, either heading to or coming from Daytona, FL for Bike Week 2009.

Congratulations to you and Brenda on celebrating your 30th Wedding Anniversary! That's a serious milestone.

Terrible to hear about that accident scene you came upon in FL. Sure hope that fellow is gonna be ok? It's crazy here that Mardi Gras is over, yet our drivers still navigate like they're drunk.

Looking forward to your return in April. We'll definitely have to get everyone on board and put something in the works.

    Hang in there!

    - JB

    JB, Dan and Matt:

Seems like there is a looooong delay for notices of these posts to make it to my hotmail account.

Sounds like everyone is doing well. Matt, you're getting rid of your bike? Really?
Dan, congrats! 30 years! Whats the secret? I'm coming up on 13.... JB, hope you're back to 100% soon. Chances are you might find another thing or two that need to be fixed. You'll get there.

We'll ride soon. I'm coming off of a few time consuming personal issues, work is kicking my butt, etc., etc., etc. I still mad time to hit the street for about 1.5 hours this moring.

    Take care everyone.

    Joe

Yeah and I covered it in neon blue fur so I could sell it sooner and for a little more money. I actually just agreed to buy a second bike today. I'll post some details once I actually get my hands on it.

    Riding This Weekend...

Any of you planning on riding this weekend? I'm planning on riding both Saturday and Sunday if anyone wants to roll out.

Matt, what's going on dude? Did you get another new toy? Pics, please!

Joe, you're right. I might have to fix a few things now that I have her back. When the mechanic at Boyce replaced the leftside radiator, he didn't secure one of the coolant flow tubes properly. As a result, it wound up settling into the shroud of the radiator cooling fan. The noise that I was hearing were the fan blades coming into contact with the tube; the fan blades are chewed up as well as some damage to the flow tube. I have since secured it, and Boyce has ordered a new tube and fan assembly for replacement - at their expense. I also notice where there is another tube, not secured properly. Other than that, everything else seems fine.

Dan, we'll see you in early April. Hope everything is going well for you sir.

Hopefully I'll get the new bike this weekend. I'm waiting for the guy to get the title mailed to him. Maybe you all will have to come out to bike night and check it out. I haven't done one of those in a long time.

Its not a Honda and its pretty different.

I also still haven't gotten the VFR put back together. I have a friend in town who is getting married on Saturday and a college roommate coming in on Sunday so I don't see that happening any time soon either. :(

Ok, I'll spill the beans because this kid didn't have his paperwork in order and the deal is getting hung up on the title. Because I'm a sick sadistic bastard I'm trying to buy a 1972 Yamaha CS5 200 (precursor to the RD200). I've been wanting an old 2-stroke to play around with for a while.

I won't be able to make it out to bike night Wednesday. Even though I should have my VFR back together tonight I have to go to an engagement party Wed. night.

Congrats on the new bike! Nothing wrong with another horse in the stable. Get that 2-stroker wrapped up and bring her home.

Hope you get that Viffer ready to roll out before the summer HEAT gets here. Dan ought to be heading back to the U.S. soon, and you know that dude is gonna want to rhyyyyyde... nevertheless, I sure am looking forward to getting the crew out there for another big day trip.

I have a pearl white 93 VFR a little beat up, but perfect for my first bike. Looking into getting the one Shane is selling in the classified adds on here. (Thanks Brett) I try to get out most weekends. Looking to making a few long trips this summer and fall maybe even Deal Gap!

I will keep checking back to see if any rides are planned.
