do you wave at other riders as you ride by them?

I always wave if it is safe to do so...or at least give a head nod. I even waved to a scooter the other day...thought he was going to fall off as he quickly tried to wave back...I guess he wasn't used to being waved at by a motorcylce. I find a lot of the older looking Harley's wave back, but a lot of the new shiny ones do not...me thinks they have not been riding mc's for long and just have lots of money and don't know about the traditional mc wave. Although, if they were smart enough to get enough money together for a Harley, how hard is it to figure out mc's wave to each other??? But I guess, taking the current economic mess into account, brains and lots of money do not necessarily go togther

I used to give a friendly two fingered wave to cops, right before a high speed pursuit. I figured why give them the finger in case heaven forbid somehow they manage to catch you... .

Harley riders are a jealous bunch. Top speed in second gear on a VFR equals thier total top speed.

When I first started riding, I decided to 'wave' to all other motorcycle riders. Basically just the point down with the left hand mostly.

For the most part, the others wave back. I would say that most HD riders respond when they are by themselves, but when they are with others it seems to go down. Maybe they don't want to look like wimps or something in front of the other HD riders.

In my opinion, unless there's a significant issue of wind resistance, etc., an upraised left-hand, or even just a couple of left-hand fingers pointing upward, no matter how subtle, seems more friendly than a wave in which the rider's left hand is pointing downward, unless they might be trying to signal a road hazard.

I wave to most 2-wheeled types... What I like doing is coming up behind a H-D, put my throttle lock on, and wave with my right hand as I pass em... Causes a second of pause... I just think it's funny...

I wave to every two wheeler--even bicycles. It is most interesting the way HD riders mostly refuse to acknowledge my existence. Why the disrespect?

Life is too short to be grumpy or look down your nose at anyone. Wish the HD crowd would lighten up--I won't steal your girlfriend, I promise.

Not really.....I will usually return a wave tho. But I will won't be first..It used to be a novelty thing when few bikes were on the road back when, now its getting big time bla ! I do the love in biker brotherhood stuff when i am stopped at motels and watering holes, etc, .Just try riding thru SD in august and you will get sick of holding your hand up all day.
BTW.I get just as many Harley owners and cruiser guys wave at me as do sport bikers, everywhere i have been.

    naw..

    ..I throw a ball bearing
    at their fairings
    with the throttle hand,
    so daring!

I ride a yellow Y2k, first or second time on it I saw a yellow Jeep coming toward me and I almost thought about waving, right at the last second I saw the driver lift his hand...Jeep/Bike wave crossover per Yellow.

I wave at everything on two. It's just good manners, dammit.

In the spring out here everyone waves at everyone, we are all so happy to be out again. But by the time the warm-weather-only riders show up they seem to bring with them the usual prejudices. I wave at everyone. It is good to ride.
