Poor spark, any thoughts?

Hi just found this great site and was wondering if anyone can help.

I have a VFR 750F-J that broke down on me the other day. The engine was still turning over but it would not start again and have not managed to even get it close to starting.

I charged and checked the battery and everything is fine with that, I then checked for a spark and what i get is very weak, almost not visible at first i thought there was no spark. I checked that there was a good earth and it seemed fine. checked all the ht leads and all give the same very weak spark (also tried with a new spark plug). Does anyone have any ideas as to what the cause of this is? any help is much appreciated.

Clean your Off/On switch and your ignition switch.

The contacts can get corroded and cause these issues.

 

I agree. Old ladies need to be lubricated....!!!!!
