I'll have a better idea after Sunday about roads west of Richmond.

Yeah there's still sand in some spots where they apparently just dumped the sand truck instead of spreading it out. But the salt is gone so that makes me feel a lot better about the available traction. Mud is getting tracked onto the road now so I'm still playing it safe, never going faster than I can slow down to a safe speed or unable to change my line.

So I guess you're going to the mountains Sunday Steve? Have fun, I'm going to SC for a few days sans bike I think to see my parents. I wish there were better roads down there or a better way to get there besides 95. Starting in a couple weeks I'll have every weekend off though.

PS- I'm looking at doing a trackday on April 1st (Wednesday) at Summit Point if anyone wants to come along. Watching or riding, its always a blast. Roger Lyle is the name of the organization hosting it. Nothing crazy has to be done for prep either, just tape the lights, remove the mirrors, and have somewhat fresh tires and brakes. And ~$200. The good thing about weekday track time is its usually not as crowded, so there's plenty of pit room and not as many bikes to pass on the track. As long as April showers don't show up I'm doing it.

i think the temptation of being that close and not being able to get out on the track would litterally kill me

Probably not going all the way to the mountains. I know there's bound to be sand all over 56 going up the mountain. Rt. 60 would probably be pretty clear, but I'm not ready to run that far yet. Plenty of time to savor those roads this spring & summer anyway.

Have a good trip to SC.

Weekends off... how'd you work that deal?

Larkin- Funny I was just looking at the Roger Lyle schedule last night. Don't know if I can swing that past the wife. I just bought an A* suit and told her that I won't be hounding her for more bike stuff this year. If I have the time, I would like to meet you up there at least. It good to helpl in the pit and get a good idea of how the event is run. I'll be in touch on how my plans develop. If by chance, I can sign up for the event do you have space on your trailer for my bike? I would be more than willing to help fund the gas bill!! Specially if we hit up Shell stations along the way!!!

On a side note, Colgan Yamaha in Manassas is having their grand opening this Saturday. I'm taking my family over for some free food and letting the boy jump around in the moon bounce. My buddy is coming down and picking up a r6s that day. Should be a good time. I'll be there around 11-12. Hang out for a bit and pick up the bike. Heading back to my place where I'm having some people over. Probably going to drink ourselves silly. Anyone is more than welcome to come over. Just Pm me and I'll give you my address.

I'm starting medic class in 2 weeks and its M-F, weekends off usually. Trying to fund a RSV4 or RC8 next year hehe. Wait, I'm not laughing...I really want one and knowing my track record...Well don't have too much fun without me. All the bikes are ready to go minus the left rotor on the Superhawk so I'll be able to ride any time.

Titanium- Not sure about trailer space yet. I'm still trying to get Patrick to go. He's going but doesn't know if he will enter as well. If not then sure, it shouldn't be a problem. Definitely come if you can though. Its not cheap but neither was that suit. Tell her its excellent safety training and when you break it down its really only like $2 a lap. And cheaper than a speeding ticket.

Watching a track day is no different than being at a strip club and not being able to have fun with the ladies. However, having folks in your pits to hang out with and help you fix your bike or whatever is cool also.

HB, you will surely have fun at Summit Main. I have never ridden with the Roger Lyle track ORG, but they are supposed to be a fine group. I am not sure how soon I will be able to get to the Main this year, but I might dial it back a notch this year and work on technique more and passing every Ducati I can find out there, and heck I might even take the VFR out there since it is such a nimble bike.

yea but mine may end in divorce!! Let's hope not!!

Larkin- If you pick up either an RSV4 or RC8 I may just have to kill you!! "IF" you need a buyer for any of your current bikes to help fund next years purchase, I think I may know someone. "cough- cough" RC-51!! Super Hawk!!

I'll be in touch about the Roger Lyle track day. If I can get it passed the wife the only next obstacle would be get the bike there and back. I don't know anyone else going. I maybe able to borrow a trailer from a friend if he isn't signed up. That will mean putting a hutch on the IS!!!

    What up VA group?

I live in the Northern VA, DC area. My bike is in the shop getting painted and some other stuff. It should be ready by months end. I'm looking forward to getting out there and have some good safe rides this summer.

Oh, Alexadria. A few of us are 30 mils south in manassas/woodbridge area. Shaun is in DC right across the bridge from you. Keep an eye on the thread for listed rides.
