G'day gang, great forum and lots of info, well done to all!

Just wonderin if someone could shed some light on the engine life of a 96 model VFR750? I realise its a difficult question and ultimately engine life is dependent on how well its maintained, but a generic kinda idea would be terrific. I'm lookin at one thats very tidy and is unmolested, but it has 85000 kms on the clock.

I know with other bikes I have (mainly 900 -1100cc UJM's) such kms are moderate and at this figure would have plenty of life left in them, but am a real noobie with 750 V4's.

Any help and other tips on what to look for is gratefully appreciated.

    Cheers

    Snowy

Welcome, Snowy! I can't really answer your question about the longevity of the motor with any authority, but I'm sure you will get some answers. There might even be a thread in here about how many miles riders have on their bikes. But I understand the V4 is pretty bullet proof if cared for, so I think the 50,000 or so miles is not much.

The goose is loose baby!! Welcome mate! To befuddle your question....I would say that if the previous owner took good care of it, that motor should go on living for a long arse time. I have 43,000 miles (69187 kilometers) on my '98, and she is still going strong. There was several members on here at one time that had over 100k miles (160,000 kilometers) and still going strong. As long as he was nice to the old girl and at least changing the oil at regular interval.....she should go on for a long time to come.

Thanks gang, appreciate your guidance here...yeh just another thing I've noticed is on some models the exhaust runs up behind the rear cowling and others, it sits below pillion footrest. Whats the go here, do they come out of the factory in these two forms?
