I'm trying to decide if I should sell or keep my '85 since I'm thinking about getting a 4th gen. The real question is how much is it worth? I don't want to sell it, but I can only ride one bike at a time! It might be worth more to me than what it'll sell for, but who knows if I'll ride it anymore after hopping on a 94-97 VFR. Any thoughts? What do you think it's worth? Gimmie a ballpark estimate. I won't be insulted.

    1985 VF700F w/ 18k miles
I've had it for ~4 years, got it w/ 12k miles, never hammered it (always used the clutch when shifting, never quite scratched the footpegs, etc.), garage kept except for one summer, bodywork and tank all look good with some minor cosmetic dings (scraped upper fairing corner, 1/4 in. dent in tank, 1/2 in. scratch by gas cap), always changed the oil regularly, I've never laid it down, rebuilt the front shocks, replaced steering head bearings, replaced voltage rectifier, Targa pipes, factory solo seat cowl, cams looked great when I took the valve covers off (see pic), doesn't leak... a solid bike.

    What's is she worth?

Also trying to decide about selling my oddball bike, a 1987 Yamaha SRX (250cc single cylinder). ahh!

If you trade it in on a new bike you may get ~$1500 to possibly $1800 for it.
If you sell it to a private consumer you might get ~$1700 to possibly ~$2000 (if the guy doesnt do any homework on the bike, and or really really wants one.)

The Value of a 85 VF700 Interceptor in good condition is near $1100.00 Yours has the cosmetic concerns, and thus some money would be required for buffing, bondo, sanding, repainting, and new decals.

So, I'd give it a final price of $1,000.00 max.

An older VF that nice looking and if everything works good, I'd say no less than $2000. That's still a lot of bike for only 2k. Most likely not much over $2500 though. Don't really know the market in your area. But you do have the seat cowl. It's a rare item.

Not to hijack thread. Does your bike wiggle over steel bridges/grooved road with those Bridgestones on it? I'm thinking about buying a set that's why I asked.

It does wiggle a bit on grooved pavement, but I'm not sure if tire type would completely resolve that. Tire profile and pressure might affect it though. It's never been substantial enough for me to notice any out of the ordinary wiggle. I liked the tires though. Not much choice for those rims.

As for how much I have in it, not much. Just general maintenance, no major modifications. The seat cowls pop up on ebay once in a great while, but most are missing the hardware. It would be very difficult to mount one the way it was intended without the hardware or some clever fabrication. I can take pics of the mounting hardware if anyone has a cowl but no brackets.

Thanks for the replies so far. Still thinking about it.
