My 08 vfr with just 3k (miles) on the clock sounds like it needs front wheel bearings, I know im ment to be able to find/fix problems by myself being as thats what ive done motorcars for a living the past 20 years but im not sure it is so Im asking for you lots advice.

When riding my bike in 4th gear 40ish mph you can hear like a bearing noise that gets louder the faster you go, and quiter if you pull the clutch in and come down the speed again. At first I thought it was the wind but now im not sure....:confused::confused:.... I can't see it being bearings at just 3k.

I've got my dad to lean on the back of the bike while its been on the main stand and tryed to see if there was any play in the front wheel at all but it seams to be ok.

I havn't been out on the bike for about 4 months now as the weather was so bad so can't remember if this was in it from new or just since it was put away for the winter.

Any help would be most welcome in the above matter as im stumped as to what it is.

    Thank you
    :thumbsup:Marc:thumbsup:

PS my chain isn't to tight (Thought of that)

I doubt that Honda has started using crap Chinese bearings in their machines and doubt that any wheel bearings would fail with that low mileage; so it's likely something else.

If the bike's in warranty, take it to the dealer.

Took bike to the dealer today, told him it sounds like a bearing to me have cheaked the front wheel and chain, all so no movement that I can see in the rear, pads are ok and caliper free. He put the bike on the main stand started it put it in 3rd gear and you should her it...

    Rear wheel bearings away.
That just sucks that a bike with 3k on the clock needs this. All tho I can't complain they give me a brand new XL1000V ABS Varadero with a full tank of gas to ride for a week.

Hmmm...sounds like the previous owner was fond of washing the wheels off with a powerwasher. That's about the only thing I know that will always toast wheel bearings early.

Your telling me only 3348 miles on the clock, but hey it should be great when I get it back....

I'm more peed of that ive had to go over 150 miles around trip and take a day off to get to the dealler.
