This bike is very real. As a matter of fact I know a guy who knows a guy who is taking orders for this machine as we speak. As an added incentive, for each machine ordered with cash, they will include a whole case of Acai berry flavored Nigerian Viagra.

    lol.

I knew there were funny guys on this forum but did no expect them to be non-beilevers when official honda v4 page with survey asks them how the new bike should look like. The "vfr people" are quite odd?!:)

    @rvfr

could you dig up that old thread that explains alot?
Honda did not made new vfr until the old one was going good.
Hope i will get some photos, cell phone ones when wil it be tested.

    Bye

We VFR riders have become quite jaded. We have been enduring hype for years and were only met with disappointment.

All I want to say is . . . it makes me want a Triumph

Yea..I gotta agree. If this thing goes on for much longer, a Sprint 1050 may find it's way into my garage sooner rather than later.

Ya know I don't even need a major redesign or a 1000cc's. Just give the damn thing 30 more ponies and call it a day. I'm no mechanic but I have to think that 130hp or 140hp is very doable with the current 800cc's.

Depends, you talking crank or RWHP? My FZ1 is a liter that puts 150HP to the crank, but only 130 of that gets to the rear wheel. The power my bike makes comes at an extreme loss in fuel economy; my last ride with Derstuka we would fill up at the same time and my bike's drained half of it's 4.7 gallon tank (with reserve) and he still had plenty. Not very long distance sport-tour friendly IMO.

If you want to make more horsepower out of a machine you either have to burn more fuel/air or do it more efficiently (more advanced timing, higher compression); the latter two of those increase the octane requirement and increase the amount of stress on all engine/transmission components.

With great power comes great responsibility (and compromise is implied).

I guess mileage isn't a huge concern for me, as long as I can get 200 miles out of the 5.9 gallons.

I look at examples like the GSXR 750 which if memory serves, makes like 145hp to the crank or the Sprint 1050 at 135hp with similiar mpg to a VFR. Which brings up another question, I once read something in regards to a VFR/Sprint comparision that stated the VFR was the faster bike. Having never rode a Sprint I don't know, but it seems unlikely as both have nearly identical weight but the Sprint is 26HP stronger, at least at the crank.

I know longevity is something that concerns most of us Viffers and I'm no exception, however, I think I would be willing to sacrafice say 20,000 miles of life for the extra HP. Not sure if that would actually be the case or not.

Insurance I guess also comes into play with 800cc's vs. 1000cc's

Why doesn't Honda just ask us what we want?
Maybe that makes too much sense..I love my 5th gen.
If I were to redesign it I'd slap on some upside down forks with radial brakes,
and put it on a diet. I'm sure they could squeeze a few more ponies out of it too,
but I think an 800 is the perfect size. Seems like I'm in the minority though.

100000% agreed. More HP isn't always the answer. Better components to exploit the current HP is a much more attractive choice IMHO.

It's kinda funny/stupid/sad/ignorant, etc... That Honda doesn't simply check in here & VFRD, post up clearly stating they work for Honda & ask us straight up what they need to do to the bike to ensure we all buy one.

I further think its funny/stupid/sad/ignorant, etc... a very obvious Honda employee chimes in to tell us the new (& quite stupid/useless) Fury is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but WILL NOT chime in to ask us what we want for the bike on the very forum dedicated to the aforementioned bike. This tells you something about the brain power of corporate fat-cats, right?

+1, some updated suspension and break work would be great. Maybe some weight loss if they're going to maintain current Hp although I would actually be just fine with the current weight if they added more ponies. I feel like the weight adds some comfort and stability to longer rides and unknown roads.

+3, im not sure id want a 1000cc+ bike for my everyday use. id say weight is the biggest issue. loose some weight and upgrade the suspension a little, but not too much to raise the price a lot.

If they recycled components from other bikes, that could be done really easily.

My FZ1 has an R1 Motor, upper fork tube, brakes, wheels, etc. from 01-04 R1. Saves R&D, costs pass on to customer and you get tried and true products. It may be yesteryear tech, but it's definitely not a step in the wrong direction.

If Honda dosen't get their arse into gear with a new VFR and Yamaha releases a more ST FZ1 with the new R1's v4 like cross plane crank then you will see a movement from Honda to Yamaha, some OzVFR folks I ride with are already seriously looking at the '09 R1 with Heli bars and touring screen as possible replacements to their current VFRs.
