Mirror confusion... Please help!

I am trying to buy condomless mirrors for my 1996 CBR1000. They use the same mirrors as the 94-97 VFRs, but I am confused at some of the info that I have found on here, VFRD, and the net in general regarding this topic. As I understand, I need to order mirrors and hardware from a 2000 or 2001 VFR. Some have said any 2000+ VFR will work, but then again others say the bolt spacing is different after 2001. Is this correct? To make matters more confusing, the parts diagrams on Service Honda for 2000+2001 VFRs show mirrors that look like to me have condoms on them but the diagrams for the 2002+ VFRs clearly show mirrors WITHOUT condoms. Service Honda is no help to me. They gave me Honda's phone number... :unsure: Am I ok in ordering mirrors and hardware from a 2000 VFR like I am planning even though the diagram looks like they have condoms???

the next generation after yours is the 98-01, after 01 things changed even more.

Yes you'll have no problems I just bought 01' mirrors for my 99 5th gen. They look beautiful no more rubber condoms! But if you find you can't see great with them you can by base extenders for them off Ebay, I have and they work great! Good luck

Mirror conversion

Thank you for the info for the mirror conversion. I went to the website that you provided and wanted to order the kit. It was out of stock. So I'll just wait until it is re-stocked.

 

Just keep in mind that it's a British company so you'll pay shipping and customs duties.

I always thought I had those 01 mirrors. I find out later that I have F4i or cbr600/929/954 mirrors, my stocks are shorter and round.



What ever version they are, I like em..
