Hey y'all. Or, all y'all, to be more precise. I've had my 2007 (Red) VFR for about six months and have been meaning to get on this site and meet you folks. Haven't done anything radical to the bike yet - just grips, a Zero Gravity touring screen, and a set of Heli-Bars. LOVE THIS BIKE! But okay, I digress. While the bike was in perfect condition when I bought it, it did NOT come with the OEM tool kit. I called one of the local dealers here in San Antonio (Alamo Cycle Plex) and they say they cannot order a tool kit from Honda. Any suggestions? Is there a list of the tools anywhere? What do you folks carry. (I've got a great little Wind Zone kit for my HD Electra Barge that could damn near take the entire bike apart!)

Second - ARE THERE ANY VFR RIFERS IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS??? I have not seen a single VFR in the local area.

I've got about 10,000 other questions - exhaust, tires, suspension settings for my 200 pound butt, etc., but I figure I'll find those threads here on the forum.

I appreciate any help. Thanks and ride safe. If you don't ride safe, at least ride faster than the idiots in the cars.

Welcome, No OEM tool kit is available for newer 6th gens. The only thing they come with is a chain tensioner. With very little room under the seat, I opted for a one size fits all socket, a socket wrench, about three differant sized allen wrences and a pressure gauge.

Sorry, I don't remember which sizes you'll need for the allen wrences but if you do a fender eliminator and remove the reflectors from your forks you'll have every size the bike requires.

Those are just about all you can get under the seat and I'vee found that for most types of side of the road repairs, they're about all you need.

Sorry I forgot to mention a 1 1/2" extender for the socket wrench. some bolts need it some don't.

    good luck

Welcome Denman. When I bought my '03 brand new,it didn't come with any OEM tools either. I carry a CruzTools metric big kit. The kit contains everything you see in the picture, with the exception of the Motion Pro mini chain press that I added. I also carry a Genuine Innovations tire repair kit. The only tool that I needed to get from the Honda dealer was the spanner wrench to adjust the chain tension, that's the wrench in the third picture. Honda part number 89201-MR8-000. These onboard repair kits are fairly big in size, the toolkit is 6"X9",the tire repair kit is 5"X7",and they're about 1 1/2" thick so they won't fit under your seat. Since you indicated in your post that your bike is pretty much still stock, you would need sidebags or a top-pack to stow these two repair kits, just so you know. Hope this helps you. Stosh,

Why does your tire patch kit have a pack of beef jerky in it

On a serious note, I have a similar tire patch kit and was wondering if you've ever needed to use the compressed air cartridges before. I was just wondering how many I need to carry with me in case of a flat. Is two enough to fill the rear?

    Regards,
    Rollin

Welcome to the site. Can't help you with the tool kit. Maybe you can get one from a previous generation. Look on Ebay. I hope you continue to enjoy the best moto in the world.

Sorry Havcar, didn't mean to scare Denman,I like to overpack. I threw a chain once on my old 1980 CB750F and I wasn't carrying my onboard tool kit on the bike that day,had to push it 5 miles to get it home. Learned my lesson well that day,BE PREPARED.

Rollin,I carry a tire repair kit on all three of my bikes, and so far I've been lucky I guess because I haven't had to use one yet. I met-up with a couple of Gold Wing riders from Minnesota a few years ago who turned me on to these tire repair kits. They told me it was best to carry at least 4 of the CO2 cartridges with you. So I always carry the two in the kit, plus two spares. Seen Reg's pic with the beer keg attached to the back of his bike? Damn good idea he's got there,a couple of cold beers would go good with beef jerky! LOL:biggrin:

Denman,I did a little more digging. CruzTools makes a smaller tool kit than the one I showed you in my post. You get a few less tools, and the tool bag measures 4"X9". That kit might fit under your seat. Dennis Kirk has them, part number 28-1824. Take a peek if you get a chance. Add a 14mm and a 17mm combination wrench and a few metric allen wrenches to that kit and you should be good to go.

If you want a factory tool kit you can get them from HondaParts-Direct.com. This page Honda Motorcycle Parts – motocross, cruiser, touring, off-road & more parts & accessories for motorcycles and ATVs from Honda Parts Direct. shows a fiche with all the various tools for a 2003 model, I'd think the tools would work on yours as well. This kit fits snugly under my seat, I'm not sure if there's any difference between the 2003 and 2007 in that regard. I will say that most of the stock tools are really cheesy cheap looking so you might be better off using this as a guide to assemble your own kit of better quality tools. The exceptions would be the spanners for adjusting the shock and chain.

When I bought my 07 in September of 08, the stealership ordered a tool kit for me. It does have the spanners for chain and shock in it. I suppose they just ordered from an earlier year model? It's a PITA to get under the seat, but it does fit.

Thank you one and all. I think I'm just going to buy the spanner and get a metric kit similar to Stosh's. Only without the beef jerky. I've got an SAE set for my US bikes, but I'm kinda short on metric tools.
    Thanks again!

I live in SA and have an '06. You can usually catch me riding out 46 anywhere from Bandera to New Braunfels.
