If some of this rambles and drags on please excuse me. It's making perfectly good sense to me right now.
I'm looking for help trying to figure what I should sell my immaculate, beautiful, babied 04 for. Two weeks ago I was hit while riding a my dual sport. 3 days in the hospital, 6 to 9 months before I can walk again, and after that another 6 months or so learning to walk with aid of some kinda crutch, cane, etc. Yeah, sucks! The other driver was at fault and insured, thank fu%@!ng god, but it may be a long while before I see that settlement $$. Anyway, no walking means no working, and that means no income for a while so anything that's not considered a "life necessity", like my beloved VFR, must go.
    Now to the point.........
She is a 2004 "asphalt black" VFR with ABS
I bought this bike brand new out of a Honda showroom just under two years ago. Yes, I bought an 04 in 07, and no I didn't get a good deal for taking an 04 off their hands. But it was the year they made the matte, or asphalt black, and that's what I wanted.
Essentially this bike is less than 2 years old. She has 9,000 miles.
    She has ABS
    My aftermarket and add-on stuff:
    Titanium Micron exhaust $1000.00
    Power Commander USB III $300
Brand New (less than 300 mi.) Michelin Pilot Power on front and rear $400.00
    Throttlemeister cruise control $75.00
    K&N air filter $60.00
Xeon blue ultra HID headlamps $80.00
    Competition Werks fender eliminator $70.00
Bike is in MINT condition. It's had 9 oil changes and a full coolant flush. Chain cleaned and lubed every 400 mi.
    Babied is an understatement
If anyone has experience or knowledge on what my bike is worth I'd truly appreciate hearing from you.
I'm interested in both the fully loaded value as well if it were straight stock. I have all the original stock parts (even my last set of not quite totally worn Bridgestone's)
I've got a close buddy who can replace all the stock parts if thats a better way to go.
Unfortunately, my days are spent bed ridden in a drug induced, pain numbing haze, so I've been less than successful trying to search for this info on my own.

Any help from anyone knowledgeable in this area would be much appreciated!

Oh yeah, I live in Atlanta, GA if it makes any difference

ah man, really sorry to hear that. At least you're alive though.

Maybe do some ebay and craigslist surfing to give you an idea for value figures. Aftermarket stuff rarely, if ever, really adds any value when you're selling. Probably best to part those nice bits out to get the most $ back.

The stock setup usually garners the most attention from the buying public. In my opinion people want to buy it as it was on the showroom floor, not to say anything is wrong with your setup but their are some who are hesitant to buy anything other than stock. I hope you get well soon and get to keep the bike instead of parting with her.

Dont sell the bike, I know that it would be a big mistake cause 12 years ago i was hit and for nine months i coulden't ride. I could walk but bending my knees was real painfull! I stared at my 1996 V-45 Magna for almost a year. I had thought about selling it but it would take me five years to make the money to purchase a new bike. Now im back riding but i never regret never selling the bike. I am saying if you sell it I am afraid you will regret it!
I hope you make a full recovery! Best wishes

    Hey Bro,

It doesn't look like anyone's given you any numbers yet on value so I'll shoot some that I found for you. According to Kelly Blue book your bike is worth $6930.00. This isn't taking into consideration any add-ons, low milage, or the rare paint scheme. NADA.com, which is the sit dealers use to find value of vehicles rates it at $5890.00 average retail. The dealers sue Nada because it give a lower and usually more acurate real world value. This could work to your advantage because most consumers dont know about NADA and if you spout out the Kelly Blue book on it they'll take that as gospel. Not trying to cheat any one but I understand you want to get top dollar for your baby. I also checked the Atlanta Craigslist for you and there was an 04 w/ ABS and only 5100 miles for $5600.00 so that gives you an idea of where to go from there. Hope you get better as soon as possible bro, best wishes.

May you heal-up quickly and completely, fellow brother of the wind and wheels.

In the mean time, I'm sure that your insurance carrier has advised you to let them totally handle this matter on your behalf. If the defendant's insurance carrier tries to contact you directly in order to entice you with an out-of-court settlement, tell them nothing other than referring them to the insurance representative who's handling your claim.

    Best wishes,

    Rover

    Zoomy, get well soon.

First, don't be in too much of a rush to sell anything! Can't tell you how often I hear that doctor predictions for recovery are wildly pessimistic, because they worry about getting sued. So to cover their butts, they tell you it'll take a year to get well, and you're better in 6 months, and you're suddenly happy joyous and free and you don't want to sue anyone's ass off.

As far as the bike goes, I agree with the others who suggest bringing it back to stock. No way you're gonna get anywhere close to the value of the aftermarket stuff if you leave it on there.

Have your buddy take it back to stock and throw him a handful of those Percosets as payment. Then take all that stuff and put it on Ebay AND Craigs List. (I had my '07 Ninja on both Criags and Cycle Trader, and I sold it to a guy who saw it on Craigs. Go figure.)

Figure it this way: if the stuff is left on the bike, it's hard to really put a value to it as a part of a whole. But if you're selling the pieces individually, then all the prospective buyer needs to do is compare your price to the (new) retail price, or other used items if available. Bottom line - you'll make more dough selling the aftermarket stuff yourself.

Good luck, get up off your ass real soon, and resist the temptation to set up a cottage industry with those prescriptions...
