I think this is the slipon for me.

One question (about high mounts in general).

Riding 2 up. Seems like the slipon is really close to the pillions foot/ankle. Is it too close. Anyone had complaints about heat/burns from the back seat?

Don't want to burn the little woman.

    TIA

I think this is the slipon for me to buy soon. Before I do...

    That's a little clearer.

I have a staintune highmount and heat is not an issue.
And it is a very well built unit- absolutely top notch workmanship.

I have a Staintune high mount, no issues with passengers. FYI I may be picking up a set of beetle bags, in which case I will need to remove my slipon and put the stock can back on. PM me if you are interested in my Staintune, it mint.

    :)

+1 top notch workmanship and quality.

I have the Staintune high-mount as well and haven't had any complaints about heat. HOWEVER, make sure they pay attention to the position of their feet/shoes.It's easy for the sole of the shoe(near the inside heel) to come in contact with the pipe and melt the sole defacing the shoe and most importantly, leaving a sticky patch of gunk on the pipe.

I even did it when riding once on a long ride and I was stretching my feet/legs by rotating them a little and the heel of my boot was resting on the mid pipe instead of the heat shield and a I transferred some rubber over lol. I doubt you will ever have that problem as I wear U.S. size 14 boots.

That's exactly the type of thing I was thinking. Every picture of a highmount I have looked at has me saying "boy that looks close"

But, the highmounts look soooooo good. I want one.

    Thanks Soundmaster

My Y2K Staintune has never been a problem for the little woman or myself. It is over shadowed by the Beetles, however, which probably keeps her off it. I wouldn't yank the Staintune can unless you are positive it will touch. Mine is close but no problems with heat discoloration at all.

Got mine fom exoticsportbikes.com $539- free shipping.
That was the best I could find. It took about three weeks to get.
    I'm happy anyway.

Nope, that's the std mount flynlo.
On another note, I just completed making a new restrictor for my Staintune.
I did this because with the restrictor in it seemed a little congested to me.
With it out it was too loud for my taste, especially between 3-4k when I'm going through town late at night, or early in the morning.
Stock Staintune with restrictor = 1.02" id
Stock Staintune without restrictor = 2.00" id
So I kind of split the difference:
My new design = 1.40" id
I'm going to try it out after work and I'll post how it turns out.
It's quite possible I have too much time on my hands...
